This orchestral showpiece (and concert favorite) is the 2nd Suite from Ravel's masterpiece -actually the whole finale of the ballet, without chorus. Here Cluytens conducts the Orchestre National of the French Radio, in a TV broadcast.

How fascinating it is to see the greatest-ever conductor of the Beethoven symphonies conduct. It's so graceful and joyous. That produced rounded and supremely Beethovenish performances of the symphonies. He was good at Ravel, too, but not so definitive.

Orchestre National de France. In 1959 or 1960. That's from this DvD : Classic Archives, André Cluytens et Emil Guilels : Moussorgski, Tchaïkovski et Ravel.
