I was living in Newport, OR . The wind was insane. Took off rooftops. We lost power for two days and cooked meals on our wood stove. Boiled water. The 1990s were like the 1890s for a few days. We were lucky. It could've been way worse.

Wind is constant enough in Newport all the time, of course!

I wasn't yet 17 when this happened, but my street was flooded near Woodland. Although my family lived up on the hill outside Woodland, I remember that we couldn't get off our hill for about three days (my place can be seen up on the hill as a short white line on the upper center-right in the video @ 3:34.) The summer afterwards was helping neighbors and acquaintances either remove or install insulation under their homes. This flood helped me to have an absolute disgust for installing insulation on a hot muggy day.

That’s dope man but one day your daughter will know her dad was helping people and that’s beyond what you look like. It’s what you were doing

@@oriplaydirty thanks man, that's really cool of you. Yeah, it was rewarding... still is... to remember being a part of that incredible team effort. What we all accomplished, all over the entire area, was and still is pretty amazing.

I lived in Gleed WA just west of Yakima. That winter was intense. Naches school district actually closed schools for the snow, that never happened again.

I was on the news when I was only 7 or 8 years old because of this event, I've been looking for the footage ever since. If anyone kind find a segment that takes place in Lebanon, OR. I'd really appreciate you reaching out.

I just came back from the good will with one of the original tapes used by the KATU Portland news covering this topic.

@@socialpast9924 I was in Lebanon Oregon, I was about 7 or 8 years old, and had long brown hair. You might mistake me for a little girl lol. My name was Jesse. Pretty sure my grandfather and uncle were featured as well. We are out in front of a brown house with white trim, stacking sand bags.

This was a global phenomenon due to the hottest weather temperatures of 1995. I just did research and a 1997 NY Times article list how North America and the UK had record flooding in 1996. It’s amazing, yet devastating of what warming of the planet can cause. Now I understand. I’m thankful I survived the 1996 flooding in Illinois, but give my sympathy to families that had a harder time recovering and to those that lost their lives. 💯👀💅🏾

I was 26 working along the river in Dexter. We tried to shore up the river bank but it was futile as the water rose so fast. Lowell Dam released too much water at once.

Did that shipyard truck make it out? Either way, one thing's for sure: Since it hasn't flooded this bad in decades, global warming "must" be a hoax. CO2 grows plants!

I remember this i was a teen living in Culdesac Idaho at the time they called out the National guard the snow melted in 24 hours we had over 2 feet of snow. A El NINO caused it, it was crazy!

You have to wonder how today's sleazy Antifa and BLM mobs would react. Would they sabotage Portland flood walls and yell "Drown, you fascists!"
