Gatsby’s list of objectives from his kids years is the cutest thing. It is really relatable. I remember writing such lists when I was a kid (heck, I am still write such lists from time to time). The idea to comicbooksize the character of Gatsby is a really cool idea, Tom. I am really intrigued to see what kind of comic book tropes did you give to what amounts a quintessential literary character.

What is interesting to me is that in the novel Nick mentions that Gatsby’s learned intelligence was not very convincing, so it is quite possible that Gatsby didn’t quite achieve what he was trying to do as kid in regards to his reading. Remember how the drunk guy in the library even mentions that the books on the shelfs have their pages uncut.

I've been on a Gatsby kick after watching the 1974 film version last week. (The hazy vibe is much preferable to the loud and obnoxious Baz Luhrman take). Haven't read the novel since high school but think its probably one that reads better with some life experience (and regret) to bring to the table when reading.
