I should have pinned this a long time ago, but I assumed everyone would read the description, and it seems few have. I did not create this documentary. It was originally uploaded in 27 parts by Chris Webber, back when KZbin limited videos to no more than ten minutes. Chris had permission from the creators to distribute the video. What I did was take those 27 parts and put them back together to make one, complete video with consistent sound and aspect ratios. The story behind this documentary can be found on Chris's website: chriswebber037.blogspot.com/2009/05/great-jonny-quest-documentary.html

This documentary is absolutely amazing. It is extremely thorough, comprehensive and thoughtful. This documentary is an amazing tribute to this cartoon, if you can call it a cartoon. I believe Jonny quest was much more than a cartoon and definitely touched my life when I was a kid. I had the coloring book and the PF flyers and I remember getting that ring from the shoe store when I got the tennis shoes. I was born in 1958 so this cartoon really knocked it out of the ballpark for me. I wanted to be Jonny Quest when I was a kid. Thank you for this wonderful time capsule. God bless you 🙏.

I was born in 1959 and grew up with JQ. I believe it was the music of Hoyt Curtain that kept me enthralled and glued to my seat. And I'm certain that it was responsible for my early interest in jazz, big band, and heavy percussion and blasting brass riffs. Despite many attempts to revive JQ, some recent, nothing has come close to the original JQ series. Thanks for the memories. I've saved this to my files and will share with as many as I can.

I actually had that PF Fliers decoding ring, I was 7 in 1964. Thanks so much for the awesome documentary. Thank you for this documentary. Even in my 60's now I still remember this show. That's why I looked it up. I'm also grateful for your shout out to Hoyt Curtain for all that amazing music. I love the show, and the artwork. I always loved well drawn animation; but those scores are what really hooked me, and were part of the very beginnings of my expanded appreciation for great music. You even mentioned the Jetsons, which was as hot as it gets, musically. Any show I watch I always pay attention to the music. It generally tends to be better than the show itself. Thanks.

A FANTASTIC production and tribute for all true fans of JQ !! For an 8 year boy - this show was simply the BEST! Over the decades I could recall the incredible brass compositions by Hoyt Curtain even though it had been many decades since I had watched again. Until recently, when I purchased the single series on Amazon .. I had (erroneously) thought there was more than one season, that is how strong my memories and love of this show as a kid endured. Even after I married, I introduced my wife to this show as we would watch it late at night …she was hooked ! Until I watched your stellar production, I could never understand why such an enduring and pivotal ‘cartoon’ would only last for one season. Now I see why - the incomparable detail, depth of writing/storytelling, artwork and sound ….not to mention creativity and labor clearly show how a 1964 ‘cartoon’ series of this caliber could never be made again to such exacting standards considering the tools and technology available. Even my teenage Daughter recognizes how unique it is in today’s world of CGI and computer animation. I consider myself truly blessed to spend my Saturday mornings eating cereal watching JQ in 1964 ….thank you again.

Great Job, Hunter. If my math is right, we experienced JQ at the same age (age 6 in 64). And, yes... Huge fan. Watching your documentary makes me wish they could make a really great JQ movie (or two). But... Such efforts usually fall short. Example: They made an Underdog movie, but without the unique voice of Wally Cox, it just wasn't Underdog. And today's whole "woke industry" would surely twist JQ into something grotesque. Still, you provided lots of super info that I always appreciated but never knew...like the music of Hoyt Curtin, which I loved in numerous series (Flintstones, Jetsons, etc.) but never knew if was all the same guy. Awesome! I just wanted you to know that I truly appreciated the work you put into this project...a true labor of love.

Jonny Quest lasted only 26 episodes yet had a lasting cultural impact. My son watched the show and couldn't believe how old it was. I think the show allowed later Hanna Barbera shows like Space Ghost, Birdman and the Fantastic Four to be created. I also think it paved the way for more serious animated show such as Batman, Superman and Justice league to be created decades later.

Really enjoyed this and glad it’s all one video. I remember watching this in the very early 70s. It didn’t occur to me then but many of the GI Joe adventure Team sets seem to be very similar to plots of some of these episodes. It’s hard to think that Hasbro wasn’t using this show as a basis for some of the adventures. The artwork in JQ was amazing, and so is the artwork on the GI Joe boxes as well. The sense of adventure was so cool back then...and now.

I hate I am just finding this video. I was born in 1962, and I can't begin to tell you the phenomenal influence this show has had on my life. From my taking up martial arts to my love of science and inventing, to even wanting to remain a bachelor after I grew up. (Married now for 34 years) Today, as an author of science fiction and horror, even back then, all my favorite episodes were those that had MONSTERS. My late mother would tell me that she and my dad had considered stopping me from watching the series as I had nightmares afterward. (Smile) I couldn't believe the series' most popular show was also mine, and the scariest, "The Invisible Monster." I swear I heard that monster's cry for weeks afterward, as a kid, in my North Carolina backyard. Like most Red-Blooded American boys back then, I also wanted to be Jonny Quest, and the fact that he was white, and I was black never played into my imagination. Hoyt's musical scores are now legendary, and for me, so iconic as to be placed right up there with the best opening score for a Sci-Fi series. The British sci-fi classic "UFO". Today, those who know me best know I pretty much now embody his father, Benton. Thanks for representing this great video and the wealth of information compiled in it. It means a great deal to us true fans.

Jonny Quest should be seen: *Uncut* That’s the way to go. Guns. Smoking cigarettes. Smoking babes. Smoking jazz music. Death. No fear. Loyalty, no matter what. Bedtime prayers. Never saw that last in any kids cartoon. I am easy on the subject, but it shows how independent the makers were. And all age appropriate! This is art. This post about this kick-ass show is already too long, but I have to add this: Turu. When they go hunt Turu to help the locals - well, as one poster said, “When you strap on jet packs, load up bazookas, and fly off to fight a giant pterodactyl, there is just no more ass to kick.”
