It's interesting to hear what the original names for these railways were. Only the Welsh Highland kept its name, where the Dyfed Railway became the Teifi Valley Railway, the Gwili Valley Railway shortened its name to just the Gwili Railway and the Flint and Deeside Railway became the Llangollen Railway.

I was there when we brought the first length of track back to the Llangollen Railway. Where are those great friends now?

It's so funny to watch this, and see the results about 45 years later - the Teifi Valley hasn't got further than Llandyfriog Riverside (and then contracted back to about a mile from Henllan), the Gwili Railway hasn't yet reached Cynwyl Elfed, but is getting closer - the Welsh Highland was fully rebuilt, but not by the WHR Porthmadog, but by the Ffestiniog Railway (and with plenty of legal wrangling in the process) - and the Llangollen railway has made it all the way back to Corwen - although 2020 caused a lot of trouble. It's fascinating to hear the plans, and looking back, see how things panned out.

Don't forget the Pen Y Mount to Treath Mawr section was built and paid for from donations, by the WHHR. They have also built a great base on Beddgelert Siding and at Gelerts Farm.

@@adamdrummer1991 I hope they do - I would love to see them reach Newcastle Emlyn, but that is probably not going to happen unless they get a massive increase in funding and the co-operation of both Carmarthenshire and Cardiganshire Councils.

This programme must have been recorded before the Gwili Railway managed to secure the trackbed beyond Conwil Elfed, as the ultimate destination north is now Llanpumpsaint.

Fantastic programme, never seen this before and found it highly interesting, with some scenes of dereliction that have since been utterly transformed.
