@@rmjstrikecat Sadly not well, some high schoolers (i'm in middle school) were also playing with us and we were sometimes switching between schools to go up on stage for different songs, so sometimes we played together or separate, and this song plus another piece, (Santa at the Symphony) were our second to last songs to play, and i don't know why one of the high schoolers messed up and told me and my friend that we weren't supposed to go up on stage yet even tho we were and so we listened to them not suspecting anything wrong until our teacher mentioned The Great Locomotive Chase and me and my friend were so confused and we asked another high schooler that was down stage if we could join fast and she said it was too late, so we missed it and it was so sad because we spent months and months practicing and because personally The Great Locomotive Chase was the main reason i was even excited about this event because it's so suspenseful and cool. I asked my band teacher if we would play it in another event and he said yes, so i hope it's true. 😕

As a flutist, this piece is extremely hard, and everyone who is complaining about *how out of tune they are* or *how slow they are* are the people who do not understand that this is a 3 PAGE piece and these students worked *SO HARD* to make this happen. They are 7TH AND 8TH GRADERS. I am in a 7th and 8th grade band, and never has anyone said that one of our pieces is going *no where* . Please have some respect for the people who are actually going somewhere in life.

woahh, the band is huge ! btw just some notes for people who are viewing this comment (i know that i can’t correct this band, but if you’re currently learning this piece or you have once played this piece, we can use this as a reference to spot the mistakes and learn from it :> !) - 0:10 the band started rlly slow - 0:16 the clarinets were out of tune (wait, the clarinet section isn’t playing it solo, but the flute sounds like as if it’s a solo player) - 0:43 the lower brass isn’t following the chimes and therefore going out of beat - 1:18 trumpets, didn’t decrescendo properly at the end - 1:40 the whistle ... scared me slightly (the whistle was also supposed to come in at 1:47 but came in 1 bar late instead) - 2:05 trombones did a great job, maybe they could have taken a quicker breath or take a bigger breath before playing that phrase bcos it’s slightly awkward to hear the gap in between - 2:17 omg my dear percussion, the triangle can glock slowed down ... geezzz, that’s why conductors even exist. just look at the conductor (even though i felt like the conductor had sped up slightly as well tbh but ... yea) - again at 2:17 i feel like the articulation from the woodwinds can be better bcos each articulation sounds different (the one that’s playing “g, g, g, f”) - 2:50 the glock was playing in tempo but, please watch the conductor bcos there’s a ritardando at that section - 2:56 i think the brasses came in a bit harshly - 2:59 the woodwinds can also have a slightly more gentle entrance - 3:09 trumpets, the same problem, copy the way the brasses do it pls, bcos they set a good example of how it should sound like ! - 3:23 (okay this might just be might own preference but ...) the trumpet is a bit overpowering - 3:40 again, the train whistle ... (i assumed the whistle came in a early at 3:45 as well) - 4:13 your “fp (?)” can be slightly softer so that you can do a huger crescendo if there are anything you want to mention, just reply to this message, i might take a look at it ;)

I don’t want to judge at ALL but the band is sometimes fighting for who can be the loudest and needs to work on dinamics and was sometimes out of tune or off tempo but over all they were pretty good. My band is playing this song this year but we are much smaller than this huge ass band that I personally think can maybe be the promblem considering how many they are in each section and not being able to control their sound.:))

keep in mind.. Im in this band and theres around 250-300 of us and it may not seem like it but we are split into three periods and we had ONE day to get together and practice together.. soooo yeah pls dont hate unless u know its just a small group and we dont have a lot of time together like an hour and a half the most.

I hope we sound better,we have 5 horns for our top band including me and if I get chosen for the solo(which I probably won't) I hope I don't mess up because I really don't like playing on the spot
