For a tragically brief time in the 1920s, Rudolph Valentino romanced the world. The “Latin Lover” was one of the biggest stars on the silver screen-and when his life was cut brutally short at the height of his fame, the fallout was legendary.

The reason he left her $1 was so she could not contest the will. If he left her nothing she could argue he meant to leave something but had forgotten or overlooked it due to ill health. By leaving her $1 he indicated it was his intention to leave her nothing. And honestly..what man leaves his ex-wife anything?

Yes, that is true you can leave them a candle stick if you wish and that is exactly what Audrey Hepburn did to Robert Walders who upon reading his life story was a gigilo. He married wealthy women who were widowed almost within a year of his 1st. wife's death he married the next wealtht woman, then went on to Audrey Hepburn then Grocho Marks widow and I think Elizabeth Montgomery he died a few years ago in his 80's no values it was his looks that won them over.

This beautuful man had a good heart, at at time when children were seen and not heard, while on the movie set for "The Sheik" he stayed behind on the weekends to sing songs in Italian and French, and played games with the children, while the other adults went into town to drink dance and engage in debauchery, its easy to see his love of animals , when in alot if his photos he can be seen with his dogs, so anyone who loves children and animals IS A GOOD HEARTED PERSON. The narrator in the video is incredibly judgemental, unprofessional and dishonest focusing only on talking negatively about Valentino. Without acknowledgeing the good he did.

I wish they would do the research; it was Rudy's friends, and the movie-making people who barred Natacha from the set, his friends became very concerned because Natacha was making what they considered to be bad choices for making a movie. Behind her back, his manager, George, and friends got a much better contract deal for him. When she found out, she said that there's no reason for me to stay here anymore. She quickly left in her car with him begging and pleading for her to stay they were outside, their neighbors heard all this yelling at each other, that's how we know this because there were neighbors who could hear all this. I might be wrong, but, if I remember correctly one of the neighbors was famous themselves, but, not 100% sure. He was devastated, he loved her, he never got over her. He even said to his close friends, one of them being George his manager, he said that he thinks she only married him to further her Hollywood career (because she was costume designer when they met.) Stop lying.

Anyone who would care to do the research, you will come to know that it was Rudolph Valentino who thought of the academy awards. It was RUDOLPH VALENTINO'S idea, creation and, invention. HE, Rudolph Valentino, was the first presentor. His creation was stolen. The person changed the name. Changed it to The Academy Awards. It's heart- breaking Hollywood is, what, too jealous or what, to give the credit to RUDY!! Do the research--it was HIS idea, creation, invention--HE was the FIRST PRESENTOR (it was not a gold statue), IDEA was STOLEN from him!! Hollywood has NEVER GIVEN HIM THE CREDIT!!! Do the research. I'm a 73 year old 5th generation Texan, not that that's anything special, but, I love the history of the Golden Era of Hollywood. It's heartbreaking when it seems people want to relegate him to just "the latin lover", "the latin lover, "the latin lover".

Also, proof that he loved her to the very end is that George got in touch with Natasha in Europe about Rudy being on his death-bed. In his book (published in the 1960s if I remember correctly)George said that she and Rudy sent each other many many telegrams. In answer to his question, Natasha (probably not wanting to lie to a man who is on his death-bed) went along with it and said yes, we will forever in eternity be soul mates. He was asking if they will always be soul mates.
@darnagutter863
@darnagutter863 5 ай бұрын
Honestly I believe Rudy and Natasha loved each other. But she felt betrayed that he let the studio come between them. Although she should have played a more subservient role and less controlling. But she was too proud to be down played. Leaving was the only way for her to save face. Obviously he prospered more without her. But I understand the first thing she did upon his death after isolating herself for several days was called in the Mediums to communicate with him in the afterlife. If you believe in that kind of thing.

Rudolph Valentino, to date, April 13, 2024, has been deceased for a little under 98 years. He cannot benefit anyone in any direct way anymore and he’s definitely not a threat to anyone. In any case, this video gives me bitter, insecure average Joe vibes. Valentino’s life was a conflicted one in many ways. However, neither of his ex wives had anything negative to say about him following his passing and all who knew him, men and women, thought he was a wonderful person.

Um…in that one brief clip of “him” where he quickly jumps up on the balcony into his lover’s arms (3:40), “he” looks remarkably like a very young Stan Laurel of Laurel and Hardy. In fact, that is definitely Laurel taking a tumble at the gate at 4:08. Where do you get your clips? It seems to me that Valentino was no more narcissistic or self-centered than many other handsome men, especially those who have some sort of fame or notoriety. No devil, no saint; just another good looking young man who thinks women are his playground…and the women were likely thrilled to have him as their play date! 😊

In Valentino's time, the term "Latin" was sometimes used to describe natives of a countries whose languages descended from ancient Latin, such as Italian, French, Spanish, and Portuguese. So, "Latin" or "Latin lover" are accurate, albeit perhaps somewhat old-fashioned descriptors for Valentino. And accurate for Ramon Novarro as well, although having been born in Mexico, he would nowadays more likely be called Latino, not Latin.

my mother like millions of women adored the Italian Valentino and the reason for the hate was that he was, "swarthy" or dark skinned and American men were jealous of him. Listen to this narrators unfair comments Valentino once knocked a racist reporter out in a boxing match for disrespecing him.

There was a lot of bigotry towards Italians, and Irish, and anybody who didn't look like it sound like "Americans".

I'd be ashamed if I were you to put this video on KZbin. Natacha was never banned from Rudy's movie lot by Rudy. It was never in his contract and he never signed for that situation. It did happen, but Rudy had nothing to do with it. That was pure Natacha and her temper that upset the studio executives. Your video is full of errors. You might want to take this down, do some research, and redo it. You really messed this one up, dude. Those of us who appreciate who Valentino really was do NOT appreciate the slander to his reputation, but I personally find you amusing in an extremely pathetic way. Sometimes, things are so stupid you can do nothing but laugh at them.

Valentino, by all objective accounts of those closest to him, was actually a wonderful man. He loved children and animals of all kinds. To state that he was the biggest film idol of all time is "to damn with faintest praise." A man so magnetic on-screen that women screamed and fainted at his every appearance. EVEN WITHOUT SOUND!! The real "horrible people" were the envious, racist, Caucasian males during that twisted era. Particularly writers who attacked him at every opportunity. All because an italian immigrant had the world at his feet. PATHETIC!! His other undoing was his horrendous misjudgment of the women closest to him. His first wife, Jean Acker, was gay and locked him out on their wedding night. An ambitious conniving wench, Acker refused to sign the divorce papers for months afterward. Exploiting the publicity of being Mrs. Rudolph Valentino. His second wife, Natacha Rambova if anything was worse. So interfering in his career that she was barred from the studio sets. And best or worst of all, was Pola Negri, who made a theatrical scene at Valentino's funeral that was a grander farce than anything yet perpetrated on him. In nearly every instance, Valentino wasn't a villain. He was a victim.

European men of that time exactly like him. They dressed differently and styled themselves differently. Class and money also differentiated clothes and manner. Be smarter.

And another thing is...he did NOT go through Ellis Island! He'd upgraded to first class from second class and so went straight on to New York on the ship. Only third class passengers were processed at Ellis Island.

Fun Fact: The Brad Pitt of the 1920's had a wife named Natasha who was a huge spiritualist. The movie scripts he brought on set and given to the director came from his wife Natasha who would hold a seance every night calling forth help from the spirit world in her creative undertaking. Then pencil in hand she would go into a trance and begin writing. So in other words, the movies you see him in were literally handed over from the demonic realm.

He was not horrible. The love of his family made him confident and strong. To come here as a teen alone? New York? Can he help it if he was handsome. The Ackerman marriage? No man would have married this manipulative woman. He did not know she liked women. He actually never needed to marry any woman. You are the only reporter who interpreted the his life this way. Too bad he dead or he could sue you.
