The original Ranking. Just like Mr Fabulous, Nico Demus the original Demus. Two truly great dancehall DJs now sadly gone but definitely not forgotten. Trevor Ranking was one of the few DJs who ushered in the dancehall era in the late 70s leading to the phenomenal 80s. R.I.P, Trevor.

lowcut, many Jamaican artists, musicians, producers & those involved with sound system culture have East Indian ancestry, not just Supercat...First lady of reggae Ms. Marcia Griffiths - Black father, Jamaican Indian mother & several other female vocalists of dual heritage parentage past & present...Also artists & musicians such as Jackie Mittoo & Boris Gardiner & many others. Sound system owner Courtney Singh of Bodyguard sound & Rory Stonelove all of Indian descent. The list goes on & on...It was talking & reasoning with people outside a record store in Sav la mar, Westmoreland in 2001 when the Ranking Trevor, Supercat & Courtney Singh debate started, someone stated they were all of dual heritage...

Yes again! Ranking Trevor was in the same class at Tarrant High School so I know most of his life growing up as a dance hall dj We were in 9- 10- and 11 grade. Hi was the only young youth that ride a bike come to school. He was a very good person and he'll sadly mist. Nuff Singer was came from Tarrant High School and Water House that, some made it and some don't like my self.

Shabba Ranking! come on is that the best you can do, first of all wrong era, second thats the most well known dancehall deejay that exploded in u.s.a in the 90's.The foundation of dancehall will always deserve more respect and recognition than it receives especially today. Im sorry for me best dancehall 1975 - 93 and even 1989 was an end of an era when the Late Great King Tubby killed

I was there at that four sound clash in Oracabessa ,St.Mary ,at the time Ranking was chilling out in St.Mary,by one of my bredren also name Trevor. During that time we also went to a next dance in Gayle in a car without any headlights, the windshield dropping out,no horn and no streetlights ,we av to be shouting out when we Goin round corners about six of us in it,that was a night I can't forget.😁😁😁..

correction, back then late 70's like the example he mentioned ( Ray symbolic vs Black Scorpio) it was not just talking on the mic , deejay by then deejays would chat and ride the riddim, not just talk or toast like they did in the early 70's. This guy obviously does not know his dancehall history
