Frank Broyles, the head coach and athletic director at the University of Arkansas, was a great head coach and even a greater developer of future head colleges. Barry Switzer, Johnny Majors, Jimmy Johnson, Joe Gibbs, Hayden Fry, and Ken Hatfield all served under Broyles. Between them, they won 5 national championships and 6 super bowls.

Dixie’s Last Stand. The last hurrah of that era of the south. I find this game so so interesting purely because of what it signified to the south. It’s kind of like seeing the last sacrifice at the temple of Zeus. Something that was so normal and beloved going out with a bang.

Both teams had that 4 point stance on the O line. Crab blocking. It was common down south back then.

Arkansas, A&M, and Texas are all back playing each other again. Oklahoma and Mizzou as well. The question is was it worth it to leave a conference that you quote “owned” (more the case for Oklahoma than Texas I guess).

I watched this game and on Monday,I enlisted in the Army.I was going to get drafted decided to do it my way. Girlfriend Amy dumped me on Thursday. Great game,BUT on the pass to Speyer he committed pass interference,he shoved DB as ball was in the air.All the officials were from Texas just saying. Broyles did coach too conservative in 2nd half. Great game but not a shoot out. Not as good as 71 Oklahoma Nebraska game. That was a shootout.
