Hello everyone, and welcome to the guide for how to play and setup the game Star Realms. This is the Frontiers version of the game, and comes with scenarios for more than 2 players, but the rules are the same. There are a few additions to the game in the form of new ships and bases, but the rules are unchanged.
You start off shuffling the normal deck together to make a communal deck to draw from. Each player starts with 2 Vipers and 8 Scouts. This is your starting deck. You flip up 5 cards from the communal deck, each player sets their life total to 50, and the explorers deck is set to the side. Each player shuffles their deck, and then someone is chosen at random to go first. First player draws 3 cards, next player draws 5 cards.
Each player then takes turns playing cards from their hand to do damage to other players "authority", which is this games life total. You can play cards in any order, and when laying cards of the same faction they typically have a synergy bonus. As such, you get extra effects from cards when playing the same faction out, and they activate the instant you lay a second color of that faction.
So if you have a ship that lets you draw a card, and then you get a color that matches a ship you already played, you get the synergy bonus of the card that is already in play. It's a fun little mechanic, and you can really ramp up the damage in a turn when you combo cards together.
The game is over when one of the players has their authority depleted to 0. Typically the game takes about 15-20 minutes to play, and is very mobile. One of my favorite games to bring with as it's so mobile, and quick to play.

It's a very well rounded game, and is super quick. Great for travel and has lot of replay ability.
