If any of the writers want to do another Heist script, Simon is not the only one that finds a good heists to be great relief in comparison to all the murder, then I would recommend looking into the NOKAS robbery. Very well documented, and a great story that cannot be told often enough. There is even a movie!

While I greatly appreciate most of Simon's idiosyncrasies, his dry quips, tangents, criminal tips & mispronunciations, sometimes he'll identify some character traits that someone from the case he's reading has & segue it back to himself even if it has nothing to do with him or it's an obvious observation. "Will _I_ be considered old in 25 or so years?" Like, yes, Fact Boi, time tends to be linear and so is aging 😅😂

I listen to these as a podcast because I work a boring overnight shift but I really wanted to compliment Dave on this script and I know yer writers pop into the comments occasionally. It gave me Pulp Fiction feels, following a character to their end and then switching to a different connected character and seeing how their life crossed with the others and repeat. I enjoyed it quite thoroughly, thank you.

@@dr.davidbaker86 Yes, and as Simon said, having the nicknames and descriptors was super helpful to mentally imagine each character as they travelled through the narrative. Hey, Simon - your perception of what’s “elderly” is going to change drastically as you get older. I remember waking up on my 60th birthday and thinking “60? No, that can’t be right, 60 is OLD! And I’M not old!” I’m a decade older than that now, and I still don’t really feel like I’m “old”.

Simon, Monopoly games aren't chained in place. Did I miss them saying that the games were there when they arrived? Most likely the guy's friend played often played it, and brought it with him when he knew he was going to be lying low for a while. I immediately found it likely that fingerprints only found on one piece of mobile evidence could have gotten there before the crime.

The fireman on diesel & electric trains was referred to as a "secondman," however it is rare for trains to have more than the driver in the cab now anyway due to all the extra safety systems in place, except on heritage railways where there are often both a driver and a secondman on services pulled by a diesel locomotive. The train blocking the line would be highly unlikely to have anything run in to it even in this era as track circuits were already in place which would mechanically interlock the signal box frame as well as illuminate that section on the diagram preventing another train being allowed to enter the section with the stranded train. Placing detonators is just an additional measure to protect the train.

Just for info "Cat Burglar" was still a thing even back to the early 2000's. on our little cul-de-sac of 14 houses, the police raided one of the houses at 6am to arrest a man who behaved as a cat burglar. I talked a policeman friend of mine who explained it was the term for those who entered people's houses by climbing up and through upstairs windows. The guy did go to prison.
