This is one of the most exciting films about music I've seen. It is worth it just for the insight into human communication, even if you have no interest in conducting. It reveals more about Gergiev than any interview could and introduces us to three up-coming conductors. When so much on youtube just scratches the surface, this is a blessing, thank you!
@germangarciamartinez40974 жыл бұрын
That is a good commentary I agree with. I always loved music also conducting. I always thought Gergyev was angry by default. What a wonderful production.

It's insane how much more passion and sound Gergiev can extract from the orchestra when he is conducting; the second he stands on the podium and conducts, the orchestra instantly sounds so much better.

see 40:10 - this happened to me once! My score was eventually in the nearby river! I discovered that I knew the Bartok Roumanian Dances better than I thought! I also had the experience of having the last page accidentally torn off the score of the Barber Violin Concerto when the orchestra manager put my music on the podium. I didn't know until I reached the end of the piece...

Excellent documentary. Gergyev sometimes looks like he came straight to the podium after a 3 day bender, but brother can he conduct ! 👍 👍 👍

This bender is actually 2 ( maybe even 3) concerts at just one day before he came to you ( sometimes even at the same day :))))))

@rubendiazguitar5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment Phillipe. I understand you because I also got in contact with the marvelous music of Scriabin only after many years in the music field, although he is the most exalted composer unfortunately is not very popular as other rather superficial composers are including Mozart who is in my opinion very much inferior when compared to Scriabin, in case anyone have doubts regarding this fact he should listen carefully the top most work ever composed: The Scriabin/Nemtin, Mysterium kzbin.info/www/bejne/jGW8hKypitNgeM0 I guess most refined things in life are not out there just like that, one has to inquire, have an expert guidance from an out of the box teacher and then explore many years to finally find the real deal. Regards

Who do they think these people are. Only Golovanov or Svetlanov could conduct those works. Modern young conductors are completely clueless about this music. They're not even russians

Maybe one of the greatest conductors, but also openly a close friend and follower of the man who has recently ordered the annexation of Ukraine. Never mix music and politics, but to me music is sacred and if your intentions are bad, in my opinion the music you make becomes defiled. No more Gergiev for me.
@ricardorada22852 жыл бұрын
As if any of the conductors or composers of any time weren't linked to ideologies... Cancel culture is absurd. You would miss most of the art ever produced. People are capable of amazing things despite of being capable of the most despicable ones.

Well the irony is that you are commenting on a Gergiev video. Nobody cares if you listen to Gergiev or not, or did you need to virtue signal one last time before you start your irrelevant boycott? Why are you here? Are you that self absorbed that you need to tell the world you are done listening to Gergiev? Do us all a favor & kindly f* off. Thank you.
