History of this world:
This survival series started on July 10th 2014 on the MCPE (Minecraft Pocket Edition) App. I had quite a few MCPE videos before this series that I recorded and edited on the iPod 4th Generation. When I finally upgraded to the iPhone 5, this was when I wanted to start a Minecraft series that will last forever! I started this series on the iPhone 5 and eventually upgraded again to the iPhone 6 Plus for more power on Ep.66. MCPE on the iPhone 6 Plus served me well for a long time until the game started updating more and became even slower. This was until I bought myself a gaming laptop (Lenovo Y700) and transferred my ongoing MCPE world to Windows 10 Edition on Ep.154. Till this day, we are still surviving and thriving with builds in this world and plan to do so far into the future!
About me and my world:

i like the idea of the shipping containers what if there was a cargo ship on its side with poor people using it as a central point and the containers as personal homes. I think this fits since the land is a bit farther down then the rest so it seems like a dried up area.

I would love to see a metro system with Minecarts built into your city. You could use it for underground passenger transport AND for the chest minecarts that are transporting items. You could even connect it to the Lab and show how the world's workers get from the city to their workplaces, or damage it up and make it look like it was mismanaged and was allowed to grow over, but service continues anyway. Love the city building! Keep it coming.

The idea of abandoned shipping containers rather than just small ragged homes is such a cool idea for slums in this city. Just a field of abandoned shipping containers in a valley, and people living in it is just so cool.

I think a good idea for the slums would be to still have some houses near the wall but make it seem like most moved back into the forest as the richer people kept dumping crates and other things on top of them.

What you could think about doing for the slums is have stacks of these shipping crates furbished into homes, but have fauna and plants uncontrolled within the community to show how little the higher ups in the city don't care about the people below the poverty line.

Given the fact the slums will replace the forest, you could try putting a few dead trees around, perhaps a combination of just a single log (as if you just removed the leaves and did nothing else), and a few custom trees (not too big though, but you could probably have a larger dead tree as a central point). For these dead trees, you could either just use whatever wood you happen to use, or acacia wood, with a mix of greyish blocks for those custom trees (look at one of the recent building with bdubs videos, in some, he has a custom dead tree like that). You could even have dead trees poking through houses / shacks built around dead trees

So about a 3x3 pickaxe - I definitely agree with you that there is a plateau and it's a weird feeling when you reach it. However, Minecraft has certain rules it abides by in terms of implementing new features - Jeb has talked about this before - and one of them is a "one block rule." As in, you should only be able to affect one block at a time. TNT obviously can destroy many blocks, but you're triggering that reaction via only one block interaction. Similarly with redstone - you can do really complicated contraptions, but it's activated by a lever, or a button, or a redstone torch, etc. I do think there are probably ways to get around this, but they've said pretty explicitly that 3x3 pickaxes or veinmining or whatever will never be implemented. I do think there are most likely ways of abiding by this rule while still not having that plateau (or having that plateau be later), though! Whether you agree with that or not is totally fair! But that's one of the development rules Mojang goes by.

In the beginning of this video (first 5ish mins) you talk about better tools and the 3by3 block breaking and it gives me vibes of vault hunters. If you don’t know iskall85 and his team made an amazing mod pack that involves running vaults for better gear and stats. I recommend you try it for some good fun for a while :)
