I always forget that we'll be treated with a Great York Walk video at this time of year, but it always brings a big smile to my face when it appears in my subscription feed! Thank you for sharing your trek with us!

Do I get to correct Gary on a York historical fact!? Fulford was the battle at which the Norwegians landed and defeated the local garrison with the help of Harold's brother Tostig Godwinson. They were defeated at _Stamford Bridge_ by Harold, whereafter he raced back to Sussex.

The notification failed me this time. Thankfully, the algorithm still got me back. I just noticed something, 2022: 360p 2023: 480p 2024: 720p So the Great York Walk 2025 would be uploaded in 1080p?

In my teens I would have no problem walking home from Torquay to Dawlish (via newton 15mi) after a night out. Now in my 30's 2 miles (1 out and back) gets my ankles hurting badly, so consider me very impressed, well done!

It's fun seeing this after having spent a holiday hiking round York, recognising all places I'd been. The walk along the river Foss might've been my favourite, very lovely area.

Always a delight to see Gary uploading, and to see some of the sights of York.

It's really weird how homesick this made me feel for my home region of NW Washington State in the USA. I'm on the other side of the NA continent now, but many parts of the vistas and plants and such in this felt so much like where I grew up out in the wilderness made me so homesick.

Gary's content always makes me want to visit York. My Nana was from Norwich (and married my grandfather who was from Alabama, so by the time I was born her accent was WILD), but York is basically my #2 place to visit outside of there. London too of course because that's where international flights are going to come in, but still, York seems pretty great.

18:57 what’s the restricted building on maps
@BluefearHere7 ай бұрын
Nothing restricted, it's a big construction site just now part of the former Nestle factory, plus Joseph Rowntree Theatre and Nuffield Health private hospital. Reckon just a technical issue, it shows on Google Maps at all levels.

Congrats on completing the big walk! I am 50. I started walking local to where I lived during the pandemic period. The distances got longer. By this time of year I would be wearing a thin long sleeve t-shirt (Merrino wool or polyester). And carrying a thin fleece jacket and a set of waterproofs. The fleece is to put on when you stop and rest, or if it get a bit cooler, windier . The waterproofs are obviously in case it rains. That shirt ( I am sure much loved), is not IMO a great choice, it is going to get you hot.
