I can consistently get a 22 in fire ball jumping and have gotten 24 twice. The trick is simple. If you turn around away from the landing bridge thing and fire ball while moving backward by pressing S and jumping at the right time you can go further if you do it right. It takes some practice but once you get the hang of its pretty easy. If you do it the regular way where you look down while fire ball jumping and go forward you don't go too far as you go very high but not too far.
