I remember the awe of finding the dawn breaker in Skyrim. I had only found that castle by aimlessly exploring and I’ve never been great at following quests in open world games. I loved Skyrim and that moment had me fall in love with gaming. Elden Ring gives me that same feeling. I’m glad we finally have an alternative to standard open world design.

There's two other games that scratch exactly the same itch if you give them time, like this or Skyrim. That's Breath of The Wild and Witcher 3. If you like open world games like this or Skyrim, you need to give those games a fair chance.

@@rezarfar loved BOTW from what I’ve played, though probably not as much as other people. I’m about to ramble on the internet to a stranger but I was going through weird times when I played both those games. I had a girlfriend who had a hard time coping with me working overnight shifts so on off days I lates in bed with her playing the switch, making the most of our different schedules. And I tried playing the witcher 3 when I was deployed but never felt I could get truly invested. I’m certain both games are amazing I just never felt the need to revisit them.

I love that Doc stuck with it. His experience has mirrored my own. I raged for the first 2 days because of controls & camera just because this is my first souls gaming experience.
