juan der Not just Duncan, if that disaster had never happened, the team of 1950s would've easily won a lot more trophies. My grandad used to say to me there was talks about the Busby Babes across the whole world both before and after the disaster, and I'm not even from England, so it shows what an impact those players had on football.

***** I don't think they would Jack, sure they would of had more trophies in the cabinet, but that doesn't symbolise what Manchester United are all about, it was the way the club conducted itself after the disaster and the aura that it gave them to rise again from tragedy for the second time after Old Trafford was bombed during the war, it's that history that makes our club unique, it defines who we are, to be a United supporter is a journey through lows and highs, it's the way we deal with adversity that makes us a very, very special club.

My Uncle died in 2017 at aged 80 and was born in 1937, his name is Harold Robinson and he embodied a Manchester United supporter. He taught me to be a gentleman and is my true inspiration. Anytime he passed Sir Matt Busby's statue weather on foot or by car he saluted him. He knew how good the Busby Babes were and especially Duncan. I have seen footage but from all of his descriptions I believe him to be this good. My Uncle and other family members are original Stretford Enders where you cheer your team with no hooliganism. He used to send all of his match day programs through the post to my brother and myself when we were growing up as we live far away. The programs that used to have the teams names and numbers listed, where the writing was in black except for the captain (Bryan Robson) written red. We loved those programs so much, better than anything. When you grow up this way, kept in the loop and learn more about the history and the players as long as you're not biased you can make good judgements of how things were. Someone said about the book that Duncan Edwards wrote, Tackle Soccer This Way, that it was of it's time. As Duncan explains his own personal experience and the type of United coachinging and Matt Busby's and Jimmy Murphy's philosophy which was better than elsewhere, you must surely acknowledge the book is ahead of its time. He was before Cruyff and the way he explains passing football and how to outnumber the opposition is remarkable. It is of it's time in a sense but I think the critic who said that missed elements of Duncan's message through his own lack of knowledge and understanding. The book in general gives an overview and explains how to learn and improve for beginners. God only knows what he would have written for experts. I watch footage of him now and have in my mind what he explains in his book and I see a clear picture of what Duncan Edwards is trying to do. Just like sending the ball to the opponents end and far into the wings and back corners of the pitch, if there are no passing options available and his team is out numbered and under pressure in there own end. The reason for this is the team can possibly counter or if not then they can regroup and the opposition will have lost their advantage. He knew it was better than to dribble in this situation. He mastered all requirements of a footballer and mastered what to do in every situational concept. His is just great.

I have spoken to this guy a few times online. I asked about him about Duncan Edwards . How good was he . He didn't say Edwards was the best player that Britain ever produced . He said Edwards was the best player that ever played football . I asked him what made him so sure . He went on to say Edwards could pass the ball as good as anyone , could dribble , beat players as good as anyone , could tackle better than anyone , was lightening fast , more powerful that any other player , defend as good as anyone, play in any outfield position. He just said that he was like no other player he has seen since .

My Dad told me he went to Highbury to see United play there last game on English soil just before Munich , he told me Duncan was unbelievable . he said he had the Arsenal defence in his pocket . I was born 4 months after Munich so i never saw him play , United's loss was also England's loss . RIP Big Duncan and all the lost Busby Babes

I love that UTD have always made it important to make our brilliant history a constant part of the club. All these great players get the respect they deserve and it feels like I get to understand in some way how great they were even without having the chance to see them live. @@anibng He was an amazing player. A colossus. Although primarily a left half he could play anywhere. Made his first team debut aged 16 in an era when that was unheard of. He was playing for England when he was 18. If it wasn't for the Munich crash he would have been playing for England regularly and nobody would have heard of Bobby Moore.

Ive seen george best, bobby charlton, Dennis law, eric cantona, ryan giggs, paul scholes, David Beckham, Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney play. The clips of law best and charlton I've seen show how good they were. Ive never seen Duncan Edwards clips and it upsets me that everyone says how good he was but there are no videos of him playing. Such a shame we lost him so young.

He was only 21 when he died of the multiple injuries as a result of the Munich air disaster on 6 February 1958. Duncan Edwards would most probably be England's captain instead of Bobby Moore when England won the 1966 World Cup. He was in many ways resembles France's Michel Platini but Edwards was bigger and stronger. Edwards could play in any position.But his most favourite position is that of a wing half. Bobby Charlton had remarked "If any footballer that has made me feel very inferior it is Duncan Edwards.I thought I was good but Duncan was the best."

People say about how he would have been at his peak in 1966 and almost certainly would have played in the World Cup. I also wonder what might have been had he played in the World Cups of 1958, 1962 and 1970. Never mind the European Championships of 1968. He should have had a long career, moving to central defence.

Mine is completely different it is:- Schmeichel Wan Bissaker Stam Buchan Irwin Edwards Best Charlton Giggs Cantona Van Nistelrooy Subs for me would be:- Tommy Taylor Dennis Law Bryan Robson Andrei Kanchelskis Roy Keene Cristiano Ronaldo Paul Scholes I would have the front 6 play like Brazil 82 and the back four helping out attack if need be with full backs either overlapping or under-lapping. I would have Duncan helping out attack, setting the pace from deep and helping out defence and generally filling gaps when needed. With that goalie and back four I can't see many getting past it.
