My mum, Elma, was his favorite, the only one of his four girls he cried over as she was buried behind his orchard wall. I was 5. She didn't tell anyone who my Dad was.

So sorry to learn Of your loss Joana. I’ve been away from your channel for a short while and was shocked to learn he was gone. He was such a genuine fellow who conveyed his love for you, his land and livestock. That gentle smile was louder than many words. It’s strange that this morning I was watching the sun coming up on my farm in Southern Iowa and thought how the scene of the sun through the trees was like sunrise on Dale Farm. As the sorrow lessens, you will have many memories to bring smiles to your soul.

Oh my Joanna...words can't convey my heartfelt wishes for you and yours in this moment of grief! Let me say this though...there'll come a time when you'll smile before the tears come when thinking of your Dad. I can't say how long the time passage for when that'll happen - just know it'll happen! Your Dad reminded me of my Grand Dad John - both full of 'old school' farming wisdom. I've benefited from those years as a young lad spent with Grand Dad John. And, you're right to say you've been blessed with that same experience - it will serve you well into the future.
