I just realized the clip I used for the AMF 82-70 was the prototype model (the 82-70 A). Here’s what today’s 82-70’s look like. kzbin.infoDm3qfKQiKX0?feature=shared

I was a pin chaser in 1967 at an alley with AMF 82-30s. I asked the owner why he hadn't chosen Brunswick since there were more of those machines in use. "Too many belts, clutches, and pulleys" is what he replied.

I worked on Brunswick A and A-2 machines when I was a kid. The only thing I really dislike about them, is the shaker pit. Unless it's impeccably maintained, it's a very inefficient way to get pins to the elevator wheel.

@@KCGenoI was fascinated by the automatics as a young bowler. I wasn't so much concerned about my score than what was going on behind the masking unit. After finding out how the AMF machines worked, I got even more curious about Brunswick's way of doing it. Two different monsters doing the same thing. The Koreans built a machine that is basically a copyright infringement of both AMF and Brunswick models. The Table looks exactly like a Brunswick GS-96/98 as to how it sets down and picks up pins. Everything else is like an AMF 82-70/90 including a distributor arm and shuttle. I think it's called the JS International Pinsetter. There's videos online about it.

A2 are solid machines. I like the AMF pinsetters myself. Just as long as its not string.

Being a A2 pinsetter mechanic I have game to realize they are a lot like a person. They can be happy or moody all depends on how you wake them up lol

This goes for the AMF 82/70’s as well lol.

To my knowledge, the only machine you forgot was the Mendes magnet, my favourite pinsetter althrough they seem hard to maintain, but still, i love them.

There's actually a couple of asian ones too, I think they're all asian at least. the odin fbm-5, JS vision and bowlmor z2-b.

Nicely done! And yeah ... I freaking hate string pinsetters.

Jettback from Brunswick was a conversion from a pinsetter done in the field at the center. There was also a converted a2 from a pinsetter done in field at the center. There is also a factory a2 which was mass produced from Brunswick .converted a2 have lowering links . Factory a2 have scotch yokes

Dec 2024: If you asked me about this when I was 9 years old in 1977 I would've COMPLETELY agreed that it's the greatest machine ever built. One would call it an obsession of mine. :)

String pinsetters suck. I've bowled on them and I cannot do messengers on them and it does not have the satisfying pin noise. I'd be happy to pay extra to go to a bowling alley with free fall pins instead of string pins. There are still plenty of bowling alleys where I live that still use free-fall pins. There is a family-owned bowling alley near me that looks like a hole-in-the-wall place but, they do an excellent job of maintaining their equipment and it's always packed in the weekends.

There are now these day that centers are getting ride of these amazing machines and then turning them into strings pin if I would pick one of these I would Brunswick GS-X NXT or A-2 or AMF 82-70/ 90 these machines are not hard to maintain
@gangstahwezel3 ай бұрын
And they're all slowly disappearing sadly. In 2023 Bowtech, who supplies AMF equipment in western EU, ONLY sold stringpin machines. and in 2022 they sold only 10 freefall machines out of like 600.

Unfortunately bowling is not a popular sport in Europe, a few months ago my centre switched from 40+ years old gs-10s to stringpins. It's just a business thing

Otis Elevator was the creator of Brunswick and the reason for the deck cables I myself grew up on the 82/30s abd later ran 2 centers with 82/70s and 90xls It seems the gs machine has taken the best of both machines and combined them into one top machine. The one machine missing is the mendez machines but they like twister pins and string pins all SUCK! But i would say that the pinspotters are the original AI automated takover but stiil had a place for me for life. What can you when machines takeover? Become the person who knows more about the machines then anyone around you. They will break! And there is your ticket! Now fix it! LMAO FACTS
