This video makes me emotional. I lost my father recently who was a U of M medical graduate. He was a Pediatrician. A damn good one too. My dad and I watched most of these moments from home in Athens, GA. Where he moved after getting his degree. I was born in ‘90 so he would tell me of these incredible 80’s Miami teams like they were a mythical beast or storm. Then 2000 came I was 10 and we got f*cked over by the BCS. Then glory! The best team OF ALL TIME. Then the robbery in the desert 🌵. So naturally dad had to get back to the OB. My first ever live game was “The Comeback” by Sean Taylor, Devin Hester, and Brock Berlin among others. It was classic. But on saturdays in Athens Georgia EVERYBODY is bulldawgs fan unless you’re visiting, we were the only family with hurricane flags all over our vehicles. My dad used to say being a Miami fan in football is harder than any other team: “Because we have to beat the other teams first, then we have to beat the officials, then we have to beat the Media, and if you’re playing Notre Dame we have to win by 4 scores because they paid everybody else.”- Miss you Dad.

I got to tell you guys something you may not know or simply chose to not acknowledge it. Back in the mid to late 1970's both Miami and FSU were contemplating DROPPING football because of their poor performance. In fact, in 1975, one team even dropped Miami from their schedule and the U never rescheduled anyone for the opening. The exact same thing was true of FSU. I bet many of you young guys do not even remember a time when the U played "Friday Night Live" games to try and draw bigger crowds as opposed to a Saturday afternoon. I vividly remember sitting in the OB and they Canes were playing before crowds of 10-15,000 on average. You have no idea how sad and pathetic they were , as well as FSU not too far back.

Kevin, I went to a ton of Canes games and a I still follow them. However, although their 5 NC's are outrageous, it can't eclipse FSU from being in 35 straight bowl games along with a string of 14 straight seasons with at least 10 wins. From 1987-2000, FSU had a record of 152-19-1 for a .887 winning percentage, against some of the toughest opponents. That is impressive. The U had 58 straight home wins which is outrageous, and FSU was not too far behind with 50 straight games at home without a loss, when they were 49-0-1.

That’s debatable with the current Alabama run. 5 titles already could easily been 6, “1 second pick play”. Since 2008, with exception of 2010, they have been in or in contention for a national title every year. True Alabama got destroyed last year in the title game, but Miami also got pounded in the 92 title game by Alabama. I won’t mention the 12 before Saban got there. I’m sure if I looked, I could break out stats comparable or better than the stats listed on the video. It’s all open to interpretation. As far as national titles and years taken to win, Miami takes second. Oh and Alabama’s run is still going strong.
@CD-pk7xr5 жыл бұрын
flash 22 Alabama has played in 7. Would’ve played Florida state in 2013 if not for a fluky kick six field goal return against Auburn, Lost in a semi final to OSU in 14. Alabama could just as easily have won 6 titles and played for 9 since 2008. Instead they’ve won 5 played in 7.

There is something about that swagger and confidence that you just can’t deny!! It truly is something special. And watching this video just reminded me of all the absolutely amazing players that Miami has produced. It’s mind blowing!! But out of the endless number of great players from the U, my guy was and always will be the late, great, Sean Michael Taylor!!! That guy was probably the most athletic player I’ve ever seen. Absolutely dominant!! Meast was a freak of nature with that combo of size, strength, speed, instinct, and heart!! I truly believe that if he wasn’t taken from us so early he would have been the best safety of all time. Guess we will just have to leave that crown on Ed Reed’s head!! Lol!! RIP to the most exciting football player I was blessed enough to see play, Sean T!!! Gone but never forgotten!!!!💯💯💯🙏🙏🙏

What made Miami great, schematically, they were one of few teams EVER, that could dominate games running, passing, and on special teams. Defensively, they were built to stop ANYONE in the country from Nebraska's option, to FSU's spread fast break offense. Culturally they changed a generation. The "swag" that people refered to was organic not manufactured, its was South Florida's football culture!!!! Lastly, what I endear probably the most is that, they knew talent!!!! On a regular basis, they would overlook a "5 star" player and go to a "3 star" player because they sincerely evaluated him on whether he could fit into thier system, i.e. Santana Moss. Arguably the best football program EVER!!!! THANK YOU.
