It was interesting how they wrote the scenes between Rita and Joan over the last 100 or so episodes. There seemed to be a grudging mutual respect - both saved each others' lives at different points. Spoiler alert - Joan forbade Craven to kill Conners - and Joan even trusted Conners at the end.
