The Little Pallet Farmhouse

Күн бұрын

Since getting our Great Pyrenees 'Samson' 15 months ago, we had planned to make a video on these much coveted livestock guardian dogs. We had been collecting footage to share along with our experiences of buying and raising a purebred Pyrenees dog to help in answering some of the questions that we had when we were first looking into the breed and if it would be a good fit for our farm. We hope it might help answer some of the same questions you might have also.
We NEVER thought i would ever be making a video that ended like this. Our hearts are broken.
We have nothing to say but great things about Samson and the breeder whom he came from. They can be contacted via the link below.

I hope you guys are doing better today. Sorry for your loss. It is never easy to lose a member of the family, especially a guardian like Samson. I pray that by now your perimeters are fenced in to help a bit with outside critters and keeping flocks, kids and dogs in. I hope you get the help you all need for all these things come to pass. I hope and pray neighbors become an asset to you all. I pray the person who did this, repent and get you a new great blood line dog like Samson. May God does not let em sleep until he/she does so in Jesus name.

My heart is so sad for you and your sweet family as we also understand the great loss & grief of losing these precious creatures who become our family. We have 4 pure bred Great Pyrenees on our little farm and they are amazing guardians of all our people and livestock, even the feral cats who frequently visit for free meals. Samson’s life may have been short-lived, but it sounds like he was well loved and appreciated by his humans. Praying for your comfort & peace.

thankyou for your kind words. Someone shared words to the effect that We only hurt so much because we loved so much, and that was true for us with Sam. We love the breed so much and have missed him hugely on the farm both for his presence and protection but also his personality. They are each so special in their own individual ways.

Sorry for your loss. What a lucky dog Samson was, and how lucky you were to have him. Heartbreaking that some people can just kill an animal with no remorse. It’s not possible that they couldn’t have seen or feel that their car had hit him, so that they could have at least stopped and talked to you. R.I.P., Samson. Your memory will be treasured. I have a rescue dog that seems to have parts of the same Great Pyrenees breed (although medium size), mixed with a bearded collie; she’s still a puppy now. I don’t live in a house with a yard, but I try to walk her out as often as possible, and also play with her indoors and challenge her often. Amazing companion, tons of energy and fun, but also affection galore. She is fully dedicated, protective, but only barks when something is really strange or problematic, so I love how intelligent she turns out to be every day, trainable and independent at the same time. I work with many children and young adults and she loves the attention from everyone. Grateful for finding your video - respect for what you’re doing, keep up the great job! I loved watching you all and your beautiful animals. Try to get the new puppy soon, so that your grief is also redirected positively onto a fluffy soul which can’t wait to get home and fill those big Samson “shoes”. ❤ Love from Romania

Carrie, Caleb and kids…I am so very sad to see this news about Samson. I also read about Greg and then Double…so tough. That Arabian boy had been with you, Carrie, for so many big things in life. Praying that your heart will be comforted in God’s goodness around you. As new life spring up and seasons come and go, I pray that you will remember that Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. Love from the sandbox.

Thankyou Lisa, Samson's death was a loss that left us winded and from there we entered this time of winnowing, sitting at the Lords feet and reflection. As for Double, God knew i needed that horse to lean on for so many testing times even before i knew i needed him! He heard all my prayers, afforded me many gospel conversations in the desert and introduced me to people i likely would never have met! It has felt like loosing an old friend but I am filled with thanks and praise for how the Lord can use his creation to bless us in such rich ways. Hope you guys are doing well. We miss you all.

Thankyou Rebecca, its been a hard loss for sure, and yes Samson was ' Caleb's dog' in terms of how animals seem to 'pick a person' - they had that special connection. Its hard not having closure with the way it happened and whoever hit him just driving off as they did. It was practically under our noses and you go over and over it thinking you could have changed the outcome if only.... its going to take time to adjust. We miss him greatly.

Its just a wonder- weather they were intoxicated or it was kids i dont know but its hard to get closure when its left like that. It has shaken our whole family. The ripple effects of one person’s reckless behaviour…. Just sad there are people like that.

My cousin adopted a G P that was actually a rescue from a lab. He is 13-14 now and has been a really good pet. I hate what happened to yours. Pets are apart of our families. If you decide to get another one, my son has dogs he puts these perimeter collars on. Completely wireless and it's the kind you don't have to use any other device with it. Everything works from the collar. You set the territory from collar. Been using them for a year almost. So far they've not been in the road. They can be pricey tho, but worth it.

Oh so very sorry to hear about Samson. Great Pyrenees are such wonderful dogs to have. We had one named Sadie and we lost her a few years ago. We have other dogs now, but we miss her so very much. I hope you can find out who did this. That is horrific. They are such wonderful guard dogs and so great with kids. Praying for you all. It's just so hard.

I’m so sorry for your loss! I have two female Pyrenees and they’re my first Pyrenees and the greatest dogs ever!!! I’m sure it’s the breed! God was not playing with he created such magnificent creatures. They can do anything and everything. Call Sampson by name and he will show himself.. he can come by as another dog if you call on him. 🤍🕊️🐾
