One of the twins is a really popular sports player in there high school who has a drug addiction and the twin sister is a musical child who works at a coffee shop and she one night let's boy into his room. Right here, right now, I put the offer out. I don't wanna chase you down, But I know you see it. You run with me And I can cut you free Out of the treachery And the walls you keep in. So trade that typical For something colourful, And if it's crazy Live a little crazy. You can play it sensible, A king of conventional. Or you can risk it all And see. Don't you wanna get away From the strainful part you gotta play, Cause I got what you need So come with me and take the ride. It'll take you to the other side. Cause you can do like you do, Or you can do like me. Stay in the cage, Or you finally take the key. Oh, damn, Suddenly you're free to fly. It'll take you to the other side. [Zac Efron]: Okay, my friend you wanna cut me in, But I hate to tell you but It just won't happen. So thanks, but no. I think I'm good to go, Cause I quite enjoy the life You say I'm trapped in. Now I admire you, And that'll show you do. You're onto something, Really it's something. But I live among the swells, And we don't pick up peanut shells. I'll have to leave that up to you. Don't you know that I'm okay With this uptown part I get to play, Cause I got what I need And I don't wanna take the ride And I don't need to see the other side. So go and do like you do, I'm good to do like me. Ain't in a cage So I don't need to take the key. Oh, damn, Can't you see I'm doing fine. I don't need to see the other side. [Hugh]: Now is this really how you'd like to spend your days; Whiskey, Misery, And parties and plays. [Zac]: If I were mixed up with you I'd be the talk of the town, Disgraced and disowned, Another one of the clowns. [Hugh]: But you would finally live a little, Finally laugh a little. Just let me give you the freedom To dream and it'll Wake you up, And cure you're aching. Take your walls And start unbreaking. Now that's a deal That seems worth taking. But I guess I'll leave that up to you. [Zac]: Well, it's intriguing, But to go would cost me greatly. So what percentage of The show would I be taking. [Hugh]: Well, fair enough, You'd want a piece of all the action. I'd give you 7, We can shake and make it happen. [Zac]: I wasn't born this morning, 18 would be just fine. [Hugh]: Why not just go ahead and ask For nickels on the dime. [Zac]: 15. [Hugh]: I do 8. [Zac]: 12. [Hugh]: Maybe 9. [Zac]: 10. [Both]: Don't you wanna get away To a whole new part you're gonna play, Cause I got what you need So come with me and take the ride, To the other side. [Hugh]: So if you do like I do. [Zac]: So if you do like me. [Both]: Forget the cage Cause we know how to make the key. Oh, damn, Suddenly we're free to fly, We're going to the other side. (So if you do like I do) To the other side. (So if you do like me) Going to the other side. Cause if you do we're going To the other side. We're going to the other side.

Four corrections :) [Verse 2: Zac Efron] It's actually "But I live among the swells". "Swell" is old slang for upper class folks. [Verse (?): Hugh Jackman and Zac Efron] It's "Now is this really how you'd like to spend your days? Whiskey and misery, and parties and plays" It's "Just let me give you the freedom to dream and it'll / Wake you up [...]" (And I think it might be "Take your walls and start 'em breaking"? but I can't tell for sure so meh) [Chorus: Hugh Jackman and Zac Efron] "'Cause [?] we're going to the other side" The words in place of [?] is "if we do"

The Other Side Lyrics: Right here, right now I put the offer out I don't want to chase you down I know you see it You run with me And I can cut you free Out of the drudgery and walls you keep in So trade that typical for something colorful And if it's crazy, live a little crazy You can play it sensible, a king of conventional Or you can risk it all and see Don't you wanna get away from the same old part you gotta play 'Cause I got what you need, so come with me and take the ride It'll take you to the other side 'Cause you can do like you do Or you can do like me Stay in the cage, or you'll finally take the key Oh, damn! Suddenly you're free to fly It'll take you to the other side Okay, my friend, you want to cut me in Well I hate to tell you, but it just won't happen So thanks, but no I think I'm good to go 'Cause I quite enjoy the life you say I'm trapped in Now I admire you, and that whole show you do You're onto something, really it's something But I live among the swells, and we don't pick up peanut shells I'll have to leave that up to you Don't you know that I'm okay with this uptown part I get to play 'Cause I got what I need and I don't want to take the ride I don't need to see the other side So go and do like you do I'm good to do like me Ain't in a cage, so I don't need to take the key Oh, damn! Can't you see I'm doing fine I don't need to see the other side Now is this really how you like to spend your days? Whiskey and misery, and parties and plays If I were mixed up with you, I'd be the talk of the town Disgraced and disowned, another one of the clowns But you would finally live a little, finally laugh a little Just let me give you the freedom to dream And it'll wake you up and cure your aching Take your walls and start 'em breaking Now that's a deal that seems worth taking But I guess I'll leave that up to you Well it's intriguing, but to go would cost me greatly So what percentage of the show would I be taking? Fair enough, you'd want a piece of all the action I'd give you seven, we could shake and make it happen I wasn't born this morning, eighteen would be just fine Why not just go ahead and ask for nickels on the dime Fifteen I'd do eight Twelve Maybe nine Ten Don't you wanna get away to a whole new part you're gonna play 'Cause I got what you need, so come with me and take the ride To the other side So if you do like I do So if you do like me Forget the cage, 'cause we know how to make the key Oh, damn! Suddenly we're free to fly We're going to the other side So if you do like I do (To the other side) So if you do like me (We're going to the other side) 'Cause if we do we're going to the other side We're going to the other side

The rhythm of this song is so interesting; it's almost like a combination of country and hip-hop, especially between the verses and the chorus. Overall it's very Broadway, which is to be expected from the duo doing the music. Let's hope it's as good as all the hype is saying!
@NicholasLongART7 жыл бұрын
I knew they were combining music genres, or more specifically: classical and pop, to this. Now that you pointed out hip-hip part, I can't unheard it. Not that it's a bad thing.

I love this musicals soundtrack, it’s so empowering and fits into each listeners personal circumstances… this song makes me think back to when I left my abusive family home and went out into this world on my own, they said I would never get anywhere… and I let their hurtful words get to me… but look at me now! I’m 19, I have an amazing loving partner, I have built myself a beautiful home and soon we will be moving to somewhere new together, to start our new chapter together, if I can get through the pain, the hurt and the anger that my original family gave me, and build a happy stable healthy life for myself… then so can you my friend, good luck to you on your journey, and know that you have the light in you to make your little world that much brighter 😘❤️

This is one of the best soundtracks of this year! Zack Efron's and Hugh Jackman's voices mash really well together, not to mention the scene in the movie is really funny (I already seen the film as I went to the premier in London). Highly recommend this movie to everyone!

Who else got that the bartender was in on it with PT Barnum. He's instructed to keep the drinks flowing to intoxicate him. Back in those days a hand shake meant something and a deal was a deal. The bartender was there not only to pour the drinks but to also be a witness if he tried backing out of it later.
@doggos4lifezyee304 жыл бұрын
Ellie Mathews have you also ever thought that the reason he did that at the bar was because he wanted to get him so drunk that he wouldnt be thinking and shake hands so its a done deal?

there is autotune in a lot of songs in musicals because the actor has to act well, sing well and dance well but if he is not perfect in singing and perfect in acting and dances well, then he is taken but needs autotune (sorry bad english I'm french) Emma watson could'nt sing but they needed her for beauty and the beast because she was the perfect Belle

Whoever wrote the lyrics, I love them. It feels almost like these two are on equal ground, right? But when you look at the lyrics, it's clear that Hugh Jackman's character has the upper hand since the first line. And by the time they're haggling over shares, Zac Efron's character is basically just putting up a token struggle, I mean, he let himself get haggled from 18 percent down to 10 without much resistance. His haggling is just him putting up fronts. He's already convinced, he /wants/ in. Excellent characterization on part of the writers.
