I was tiny but I remember watching a man on tv with a sledgehammer standing on top of it and swinging it down to smash into the wall. While those around him cheered as he did it. Later and older but still a kid a museum near me had massive pieces of the wall on display. That same history a few short years was on display for me.

and THIS is why Superman is my favorite character of all time, everybody i know hates him, they say he's too strong, he doesnt have a story, he's impenetrable...well right there, he was completely emasculated and de-humanized to its lowest form, an through all of that, and even running into his persecutor, HE STILL chose the path of righteousness, and realized he would be just like them, and he would essentially be exactly who they want him to be.....this is why he is and will always be a hero i look up to! #staydriven

Isn't Superman a human lie detector? In Dark Night's Metal, he was able to determine who was masquerading as Batman from knowing Bruce's heartbeat. When asking questions, I'm sure Clark was able to get a baseline from the man's heartbeat. DC just chose to leave the answer vague.

Clark knows Bruce in an out. He can tell if Bruce was trying to lie or not because of how long they’ve known each other as friends. It’d probably be impossible to do that to a stranger especially if it’s someone like that guy.

I'm a huge Superman fan, through the good and bad. It's unfortunate Superman gets so much hate from comic fans. I like him because he has all that power - he's a god basically - but he remains good. He's not using his powers for self centered benefits, I know I would if I had those powers. Also, Superman can't be everywhere at once, so think about how much suffering he can hear through his super hearing. You know there has to be people out there he can't save because he's saving countless other lives. That has to be psychologically and emotionally torturous...to have all that power and unable to save everyone.

hah right? Not exactly my ideal destination when entering a mainstream escapist fantasy like superhero fiction, but damned if I'm not impressed with DC for actually publishing this story. Lol I'd like to see Disney/Marvel ante up like that. I mean, not really, obviously. It's physically discomforting to read sadism like that. But it does lend a sort of vulnerability and powerlessness that is all too real to actual people and generally missing in mainstream superhero comics. Again though, i recognize that comics aren't typically designed for this type of examination into the human psyche, so I'm not put out by the more common "all our nothing" sci-fi conflicts. Which makes these 'out of left field' one shots so impactful

This alongside that story he had with Shazam(which inspired the animated movie of Superman and Shazam) are stuff that I want to see more of Superman. Because: - "Superman is what I do. Superman has unfathomable willpower sure & its shown before but what they did to superman in this.. it doesn't really belong in a superman comic. It still doesn't make sense for him to be locked up for 8 mouths. Not only because superman isn't a idiot but he has batman, the flash etc. The numbers say it all. Even superman haters are saying this is just so wrong & disrespectful to the character. I really don't like what they did to him in this & damn well not alone. There are better ways to go about what makes superman, superman.

Great channel -> bad video. Rob has a fundamental misunderstanding of the “good” and “bad” of capitalism and communism. Capitalism is not extorting money for least amount of effort. The economic theories are about class and the control of the means of production. True capitalism is the idea of owning your time and aspirations. You enter into voluntary agreements in which you exchange your time effort for money, goods or services. Communism and Marxism is where you agree to have the body politic decide where your time and effort are exerted for the “good” of the populace or more likely the oligarchy incharge of the country. It’s really about individualism and collectivism. Again I love Rob’s voice and videos. But in this video he made some bad generalisms about history and economic systems.

Living in the Soviet Union during that time was a LIVING HELL for so many people. Stalin ruled with fear and he would routinely kill loyal people claiming they were traitors. He did this b/c he knew the fear would push people to be extremely loyal to him. He wanted them to be so paranoid that they weren't doing enough to keep him happy, so that they would always bring their A game. For those unfortunate to become prisoners, (which could happen for any reason at all) it wasn't just the physical torture that was terrible but the physiological torture. I can't even talk about half of the depraved stuff they did or KZbin would shutdown this comment. There was an occasion where a man was tortured in such a manner and he ended up beating his head violently against the concrete wall till he lost consciousness. When he regained consciousness he repeated the process until he killed himself. If you were imprisoned and had any love for a spouse, family, or friend, they would find ways to violate that love in the worst ways imaginable. After Stalin died things did get somewhat better and this type of demonic treatment let up but so many people were irreparably scarred.

This is what pisses me off about WB when they say it's hard putting a SUPERMAN story on the screen because people can't relate!!! IDIOTS 🙄🙄 Go to the source material because you have 80 years of printed inspiring stories. If you made this into a movie with Bruce Wayne (not Batman) being SUPERMAN only way to freedom politically. With other prisoners being inspired by Superman example now that would be a relatable and NEW take on a Superman story IMO

After what's felt like an eternity, did DC FINALLY get Superman? And yes, I know they didn't get YOUR Superman, person angrily typing on keyboard. But, on the whole, Karl Kesel gets that the world doesn't need a Superman. Just a brave one. He told me he understood with one line. "No matter the consequences, I will always care." THAT'S Superman. It's why people call him a boy scout. It's why people think Batman is better, or even the Punisher, or even Insert Name of Anti-Hero#545 Here. And it's why he's one of the best moral paragons fiction has ever produced.
