I know a man that was a Green Beret, In Vietnam. He fought in Cambodia, Laos & Thailand. He fought for his Country, his Home and his Family. He was awarded the Bronze Star for a reason i felt not necessary to ask. The Green Beret, says more about him than he'd ever say about himself. All of his peers look up to him, i certainly do. Many men are proud to even KNOW him. I however, am PROUD, to be his son. SOG Men Never Die! - De Oppressor Liber

Years ago I read and watched some reports about your question. GREEN BERETS are trained psychologically and physically to stay in enemy territory indefinitely, a soldier said: WE NEED ONLY THE M4, SURVIVAL KNIFE, EXTRA WATER AND EXTRA AMMO. Example: Eliminate objective(s), rain, hot weather, cold, etc.,Eliminate through exhaustion. SEALS: specific missions, diverse weapons and ammunition, technology, "in and out" at the time and date specified, eliminate quickly target, working mostly at night.

Actually, the regular soldiers wear the black. Years ago the black beret was the beret of the Ranger Units, and the Army decided in all their unfounded wisdom to give the black beret to regular soldiers to boost their morale. One must understand the Beret is just a hat, the man that wears the Green Beret is a Special Forces Soldier. The reason for the Beret being given to Special Forces is because Special Forces started from OSS. which worked with the French underground in WW2.

Growing beards and wearing civilian clothing has a purpose- because the Army SF (Green Berets) mission generally is to fit in with indigenous people, gain their trust and cooperation, and train them to fight the enemy. An SF ODA Team of 12 men can multiply their own force many times over this way. Adopting local customs and dressing like the locals helps accomplish this mission.
@sigmaplague11 жыл бұрын
call your army recruiter, ask for an 18X contract and don't take anything else, you'll start off by going through infantry OSUT, then go onto airborne should you graduate OSUT, after that is SFAS more commonly know as selection, should you pass selection you'll go through the Q courses so you can qualify as a green beret, hope this helped you out

Special forces dont all go to Halo and Haho school. The wait for the army is incredibly long. SF guys have waited 5+ years to get into military free fall. i dont know about seals and marines. para rescue are required to be free fall qualified i believe. Thats why it is the best SOF unit to be in. free fall, mountain, and scuba all in one.

Well first of all Green Berets (actually called Army Special Forces) specialize in unconventional/guerrilla warfare, sometimes hostage rescue and taking out HVTs Rangers are a direct action force and usually support SEALs and Army Special Forces when things turn ugly.

Yea... of course, they know almost everything about culture, language of any country, etc. Maybe some people think that they are only men with muscles and a weapon, but not, when I have time I watch some videos from these soldiers, tv, dvd,'s, news, etc., and if you put attention, you will see how they observe people, gestures, movement of the hands, eyes, tone of voice, etc.., these men could give lecture in Harvart., freaking smart psychologists they are.

Camren you're right about the differences, the biggest difference is that Green Berets train and utilize the indigenous people to help them fight. Each member of a team also has a specialty weapons sargeant, communications, medical. They are also cross trained so if the medical sargeant goes down the weapons sargeant may be the junior medical sargeant. They also live and operate amongst the indigenous people and SF guys are experts in foregin culture and language.

Seals are an attack/ extraction force hight specialized in anything having to do with taking someone or something out, dead or alive. The Green Berets are a recon/deplomatic/ attack force highly specialized in intel, forming alliances with locals, and in some cases taking people out ( mostly just dead ). Both have their strong points and both are equally good and what they are designed to do.
@stevepeee14 жыл бұрын
Good video. To all the people that beleive the hype of the movies there is one thing and one thing only that sperates the Special Forces (Green Beret) from all other Special Operations soldiers/saliors and that is there primary mission of force multiplier. Their primary mission is teaching! That is part of the reason they are so rank heavy. Everything else they do they are great at as well but could be done by any Special Operations troop

@bigdude90 You are quite right. When I was at Ft. Bragg, Seals came in & trained under SF cadre. They also trained at Ft. Benning to Jump. They also trained at Ft. Lee to pack chutes & rig heavy equip. for drops. But in retrospect, Seals trained SF & Rangers in underwater demolitions. It takes all branches of the service to get the jub dome & joint exercises ensures that we are all trained to get the job done. Hope you see what I am trying to say. We're all in it to win it......

@flaze15 The Green Berets may have 2 American with a force they advise and advise them during combat operations anywhere in the world. 24-7 the Green Berets are somewhere in the world doing this somewhere. The Rangers rarely do any combat operations unless CAG is involved or the Army is at WAR. The Somalia thing was a rarity the Green berets developed and cultivated that for years prior to the action.
