One detail that is often overlooked is that Paul shaking John Coffey's hand before the execution is the only act of protest available to Paul, given that there is no way he could prove that John was innocent and John himself did not want to run away -- and refusing to carry out the execution would just have meant that someone else would have done it instead, and Paul would have been out of a job.

If Paul refused to give orders on the execution, then like you stated here, prison would find another give the orders knowing other guards probably the orders too. John didn't want Paul to lose his job.

The type of mouse Mr Jingles was lives 2.5-3 years in the wild and up to 4 in captivity if well taken care of. He lived to roughy 64(we don't know his age when found). If John's gift simply adds years, Paul will have to wait until he's roughly 140. Now... if it multiples the lifespan... Mr Jingles lived 16 times as long as a mouse of his species should. A human male lives roughly 80 years(rounding for ease of multiplication), making Paul 1280 before he finishes his mile.

"We each owe a death - there are no exceptions - but, oh God, sometimes the Green Mile seems so long." Fun Fact: Originally set in 1932, the timeframe was bumped to 1935 so that the movie Top Hat (1935) could be featured. Jock Strap Incident Fact: Michael Clarke Duncan was uncomfortable with having to grab Tom Hanks' crotch for the scene where John cures Paul's urinary infection. Hanks left the set and came back to do the scene; Duncan grabbed Hanks' crotch and was shocked to discover that he had put an empty water bottle in his trousers. After that, Duncan felt more comfortable with the scene. Measuring Up Fact: In reality, Michael Clarke Duncan was of a similar height to his co-star David Morse, and was a couple of inches shorter than James Cromwell. Amongst other things, creative camera angles were used to create the illusion that Duncan, as John Coffey, towered over the prison staff, even "Brutal" Howell and Warden Moores. For one scene where Paul, Coffey and Brutal were in the same shot, Michael Clark Duncan was standing on a plank, David Morse stood on the ground, and Tom Hanks was standing in a trench dug into the ground just for that purpose.

I don't usually like to leave a comment on this movie reaction unless I can't help myself I'm new to this channel so I'm not sure on your names ladies but the lady in black you called it... the bad or the badness, (the flies thing) iv watched now over 30 reactions to this movie your the only person to do so besides myself even when I was a kid watching this for the first time iv always called it the bad or the badness so this was nice to see from you... made me smile during a very difficult movie to watch I cry every single time watching this and always at different points I love seeing reactors cry to this because it makes me feel... not so alone in it thank you.

Try The Killing Fields from 1984 starring Sam Waterston and Dr. Haing s. Ngor. Very good movie about 2 men's friendship set against the backdrop of the Cambodian revolution in the 70's. I think you will both like it.

'Green Mile' is part of a traditional reaction trio with 'Saving Private Ryan' and 'The Shawshank Redemption.' Percy Wetmore is one of the greatest antagonist performances of all time. It's always fun to watch new reactors getting to know Percy.

If you need a comedy after this movie I recommend Mystery Men (1999) with Ben Stiller and also Rat Race (2001) if you eventually do reactions of not just movies from the 90s. Rat Race is one of the funniest movies I have ever seen, even now more than 20 years later I find myself laughing when I think about a particular scene.

Another comedy in mind: The Mummy (1999)! It's also an adventure film, starring Brendan Fraser

Same writers directors producers and many actors also in the Shawshank redemption! Bonnie Hunt has been the best actress in Hollywood for 40 years but never gets leading roles. But what she did in Dave, and Jerry McGuire, is incredible! The old guy is Harry Dean Stanton. Bern in movies since black n white! From Dillinger to godfather 2, Red Dawn, the Hulk, this, u name it!

Oh Bonnie Hunt, that’s who she is! We knew we knew her!!

Tom Hanks is 6'-0". Michael Clark Duncan was 6'-5" (300+ lbs), but David Morse is also tall at 6'-4", so yeah, they used some props and camera angle tricks to make Duncan look even taller.
@MrAdal20625 күн бұрын
The actor Michael Clark Duncan was 6’5-6’6. They didn’t need to do any enhancements on his height. RIP. It’s a shame that this didn’t win an Oscar.
@jessicalee526024 күн бұрын
Incorrect. Yes; MCD was 6'5", but the actor who played Brutal was 6'4". Tom Hanks is 6'. MCD would stand and walk on raised platforms when on screen with the other actors to make him appear to tower over everyone. His "cell" was also built smaller, as was his cot in the cell.

Michael Clarke Duncan is quite tall, but not the tallest actor in this movie. He's 6'5, James Cromwell (the warden) is 6'7, and David Morse ("Brutal") is 6'4. To make him look bigger, they often had either raised floor for him to walk on while actors near him were on the normal floor, or they actually lowered parts of the floor for the other actors. They sometimes used kids in adult clothing near him, with their backs to the camera, to make h im look bigger.

Michael Clarke Duncan was 6”5’ and was only an inch taller than David Morse who played Brutal. So they had to make him appear bigger they made his cell and cell bed smaller then the others and the other actors walk on a lower level floor
@belvagurr40321 күн бұрын
Brutal, David Morse, is 6’5” same as Michael Clarke Duncan, but with risers and other tricks he appears much bigger. The bunk and electric chair were made smaller to give MCD a larger effect.
@totallywhatever21 күн бұрын
Wow, I was wondering how they made him look so much bigger. I know he's a tall guy but he was towering over everyone! Thanks!

Thank you. For something lighter, but still with the feels, I already suggested "Fried Green Tomatoes" (1991) and "Pleasantville" (1998), but I would like to suggest: Dave (1993) for decency and love ruling the day, "Strictly Ballroom" (1992) because love and dancing make the world better; and finally "Society" (1992) because you seem drawn to the (much) darker stuff.
