They tried to gentrify Bronzeville but it turned into a Mecca for young black professionals. I moved to Bronzeville 9 years ago and it’s the best community on the south side. The best location, nice apartments, restaurants, museums etc... I’ll never live in any other Chicago community, not even downtown. I’d rather be around my people.

Fee Posey. That's some cool shit. Bronzeville looks mad cool as hell. Full of many successful vibrant black owned businesses, African culture everywhere, amazing black art and black institutions everywhere, beautiful architecture, nice grandeous homes and apartments, and strong community vibe. It's the Harlem of the Midwest. I wanna visit Bronzeville big time. Everything is there so you ain't got to leave your community for nothing really. How fat is that?.

Gentrification is technically economic based so it just might be black on black gentrification
@carstarsarstenstesenn Жыл бұрын
That is still gentrification and it's always a double edged sword. The neighborhood improves but the people with the least money won't be able to afford it anymore unless adequate affordable housing is provided. I hope Bronzeville can continue to gentrify while retaining it's place as a center for black culture, business, and art in Chicago

As someone moving to Chicago soon from Los Angeles, this was really insightful.

Excellent insight into a local area, with locals who are proud of their community, doing great work in promoting the culture of the district & themselves. Definitely on my list for a visit when I’m over in Chicago. Thanks.

As a North Jersey native who lived in Chicago for 2 years I love this. Cliff is correct when I moved there I dealt with Seaway Bank and the interesting part was there was others I knew my landlord and business owners who were Chitown natives who didn’t deal with our banks. That was unfortunate, but I loved living there...

Looks like a decent place to meet & greet with friends and family. Authentic black cultural center. Just like Harlem.

@Orlando Coombs I was being sarcastic. The south side of Chicago don't need another person like this in their community

@@Codi892 Why are you trying to keep diversity out of the south side?
@darianjofficial5 жыл бұрын
Thoed Essay813 the same reason why predominantly white communities try to keep diversity out of their areas by setting astronomically high rents.
