This article/Xcel is misleading. I just got a heat pump to replace my ancient AC. That uses less energy, not more. Since I have solar as well, I am powering that heat pump at least during the day, thus LESS of a strain on the grid. Solar adds to the grid, not deduct. I have already put my money towards the grid of the future, and am not in favor of paying more. If anything, people with solar should be exempt from future charges.
