Some info for Mina! I'm a practicing witch and I might be able to help you with some of this. I think you (Mina) are probably highly intuitive. For instance, knowing to drink the water to save yourself from choking. You may also naturally have some mediumistic tendencies: you can feel the vibes of a place, you can see spirits and feel their attitudes toward you, etc. If you wanted to develop these abilities, you could probably learn to communicate with the dead - which also would probably help you to deal with any spirits you see. When you learn not to fear spirits and learn how to negotiate with them, they won't terrorize you as much. // I don't know what Bernie meant about being a Grim Reaper, but I think he was at least intuitive and a medium. It's possible he had some sort of psychic/telepathic abilities that allowed him to realize when you were having a beautiful lucid dream, and to potentially affect the man across the way having a heart attack. He was also clearly a goth-leaning spiritual practitioner lol // The thing about the age of the barn was probably based on either the history of the property, which he had looked up, or a knowledge of certain architectural styles and what periods they came from. COULD be information from a spirit, but could also be perfectly mundane. // A black candle can be lit and allowed to burn all the way down in order to sort of pull in all the negative spirits in a place, like a spiritual vacuum cleaner. // The cards were probably tarot cards or some other kind of card-reading system. I'm a card-reader myself. Some card-readers don't like other people to touch their cards, as it can do something with the energies? I don't really worry about it lol but that might be why Bernie told you not to touch them. It's not like the cards were going to hurt you; it was just that some people don't like other people touching their stuff. // I don't know what was up with the locker. It probably had something to do with the ghost's personal story. // So to sum up: Bernie was A) a creep (which you could clearly intuit) and B) some kind of spiritual practitioner, with mediumistic tendencies (communication with the dead), and I think he recognized that you had similar natural spiritual gifts. I want to emphasize that Bernie being a creep and Bernie being a medium had nothing to do with each other! One of my aunts is a medium, and she is the sweetest, kindest, most good-vibes person you'd ever meet. So if you wanted to study up and learn to use your intuitive gifts, it wouldn't make you a bad person or put you in any kind of danger. As Bernie said, the spirits can't hurt you. And once you know how to talk to them and say things like, "Hey, I'm sorry you're going through some stuff, but could you stay out of this room please? Thank you" and treat them like a roommate you just need to negotiate with, they become much less scary and much easier to deal with. I'm not a witch, but this is exactly my take. I wonder if Bernie was a necromancer--not just talking to the dead but maybe being an active force where it came to people's deaths? I am a Christian, but in certain sects of Christianity there are people with prophetic gifts, and some are seers (although most Christians denounce being a seer.) At any rate, I think you're spot on. Bernie was a weird dude, and I'm wondering if he latched on to Mina's family to get to Mina? Not to sa her but because she has done spiritual abilities? I also wonder what else happened that Mina's dad went off on Bernie? I think that Bernie couldn't get to Mina because of her dad. I think the dad has some special abilities, too. Very interesting story!

Holding space she finds peace. Kinda feels as if Bernie made a deal with the dark arts and when he went to prison he could no longer keep they away. Lucid dreaming can be scary and I’m 100% sure we have control over our dreams. Physically, we may not always but mentally and spiritually we sure do. I’ve had a few experiences of my own and it’s very powerful to feel that control when you think you have none. If I have dreams of dark ones, I now tell them to back the fuck up and leave me alone. When they don’t, I send them to the light and my guides take care of it.

This one was super interesting and I also agree that Mina has a naturally heightened gift of intuition. I’m curious about those cards, was she not able to ask her own mother about them? What did the cards look like? If I had to guess they were probably tarot cards… even if they were regular old playing cards sitting in that bowl, they still could be used for tarot. And yeah, Bernie was someone who practiced black magic and necromancy, clearly. He most likely had some type of agreement with some very dark entity and that could actually be the reason why he acted so horrifically indecent towards his own daughter and also the reason why he perished so quickly after being thrown in jail! Anyways, that’s basically my immediate thoughts on all of this. Some people just have a connection with the dead. When not in an incarnation they may help souls transition but also have this ability in life as well. They don't cause people to pass but know when someone is- and often synchronicity leads them to people's passing and being near them when it happens.

The card's the bowl got me thinking of Tarot cards and the black candle seemed kinda creepy but I definitely think it was to ward of bad spirits. I dappled in some wicca and darker side of magic before that I scared myself so bad with it that I stopped. Mina I think is a sensitive and was able up on things more than others so I think creepy Bernie picked up on that i guess. I also think Bernie and Mina were like a yin and yang in their abilities where Bernie leaned more on the darker side of magic while Mina seemed like the lighter side and a magnet for spirits to come to. Mina I seriously hope you were able to get some answers to your questions though. edit: i have my own spooky scary story too. But some parts are a bit harder to remember.
