Full solo playthrough of The Grizzled 'At Your Orders!'. And, which edition should you buy? Whichever you choose, it's a wonderful game in all its forms and certainly a brilliant solo fun challenge! 😊

Hi Jennie, thank you for the positive feedback! That reaction makes it all so worthwhile! 😊 It's a really fun and simple card game, but hard to master!

Very good playthrough! I was half convinced you actually ordered the cards in order to show all mechanics (you did cover them all) - but then you started shuffling. Bravo! I think you missed 1 support and 2-3 clumsy events though..

Wonderful game play, I have The grizzled armisrice, according to the rule book for my edition, when you receive a help from token you can remove up to two cards attached to the grizzled and release the abillity of that grizzled too.

Thank you Cesar, glad you enjoyed it. I'll have to check my rules but I understood it was either/or situation. And, I might just still get Armistice 😊

Apparently this game was illustrated by Tignous, who died in the Charlie Hebdo terror attack. RIP to a great artist.

Yes Jon, I've literally just found out and confirmed it. I'm quite devasted! I wish I'd known that before completing the video. I would certainly have drawn attention to it. Incredibly sad! I'll treasure this little game even more now.

BTW, just love those three pots at the top right of the screen before you startet the game. My Missus would love them. Myself too. Would use them as drawcups for some games. Any idea where to get hold of them?
@soloboardgaming2 жыл бұрын
Ah yes, I love them too. They're from scented candles (sets of 4 candles) So my wife enjoys the candles and then I inherit the pots for my games. Everyones a winner! You can see me using them as draw cups in my 'Charlemagne' videos! And they have lids too. Good thing is, candles come in such a great variety of pots. At the moment they're sort of £8 - £10 on Amazon for a set of 4. I'm pleased you noticed them 👍

I see one of the playable characters is named Lazare Bonticeli. That must be a reference to Lazare Ponticelli, an Italian who had immigrated to France and enlisted in the Foreign Legion in 1914 to fight for his new country. He is acknowledged as the longest surviving Poilu des tranchées, dying at the age of 110 in 2008… look at the Wikipedia or other internet pages on him… quite astonishing.
@soloboardgaming2 жыл бұрын
Wow, Great piece of history there, thats amazing! I've heard that they did base the characters on real figures. And great to hear from you again Eliane i hope you're well 👍

@@soloboardgaming - I’m well, thanks. I hope you are well too… and the dog! I remember having seen some publicity about that game in France when it was released, but I did not buy it ‘cause I was somewhat repulsed by the overall whingeing tone of the said publicity: I am old enough to have grown with actual veterans of WWI around me, men who had seen actual fighting in France or Belgium and even one who had been with the French contingent at Gallipoli. I sure know it was no picnic and they sure didn’t paint things pink whenever they talked about what they had been through, but they didn’t convey the image of poor dumb victims either, as tends to be done nowadays by anyone producing anything covering the Great War. I may well reconsider my buy/non buy position based on your video!

@@soloboardgaming ww1 obviously was a very tragic conflict, add in what happened to the artist here of this game and it is just a fairly depressing experience

@@theshogunstein6475 Yes, the artists story is just the saddest thing. The Grizzled is a fitting legacy and it makes the game quite precious.

Well said. Same with me. Can't really explain it to someone. I know I would have them rowed up above game. Probably build a part of a trench, barbed wire and a piece of no-mans land. No effect on the game but has an effect on the emotional experience.

Nailbiting game at the end. Such fun. Shame you didn't keep up pronouncing in French, which IMHO is quite good. So many chances of "tres bien", "oh non", "bon chance", "c'est manifique", even an odd "merde" every now and then.

The difference between The Grizzled+At Your Orders & Armistice is about 13 and a half quid at the moment. (TG+AYO = £29 + P&P ... TG:Arm. = £42.50 + P&P) There's also a game called We Care, set in The Grizzled universe, that's about 16 quid, too. It's a 2 to 5 player pandemic game. doesn't appeal to me personally, but it might to some.
@soloboardgaming2 жыл бұрын
Great info, thanks for stopping by again! I'll take a look at We Care but I agree it doesn't sound like something I'd be tempted by either. Its the artwork for Grizzled that I find so attractive too!
