Let me decode for the non-Nigerians 😅. (1) ‘Bend down select’ is the local slang for those heaps of clothes spread out on a mat in the market that don’t even qualify for hangers and a rack. You just get there, bend down and select what you want. (2) ‘Tokunbo’ is what we call imported used goods, such as cars, fridges, washing machines etc. It’s actually a Yoruba word meaning ‘from across the sea’ and is a person name given to people born overseas. If you ever meet a person called Tokunbo, please, respect the name o. This slang appropriation does not apply to them! (3) To ‘woze’ somebody a slap is to give them a wide, exaggerated slap! It is really just an onomatopoeic word mimicking the ‘rushing wind’ [whhhh] sound of the hand flying through the air to deliver the slap. 😂
