Were you running the RS7 spark plugs? Its super common for those to drop the projector tip. Happened on mine but luckily went up through the intake valve. Would recommend the Denso 5749 plugs.

Actually no I was running the 2 step colder NGKs. I’m now running the Densos with the different strap. Actually thinking if I should run different plugs between street and track. As I only really potter around on the street. IE it doesn’t get hot like on the track.

Crazy build Andrew I’ve got that turbo on my R , can only imagine how crazy it feels in the GTI ,good to hear back on the road and upgrade the radiator to a CSF when you can it might help a bit more with cooling efficiency!

Thank you. It is a crazy turbo, pretty responsive for it's size. Thankfully boost by gear makes in manageable and we can tweak it as we go. So I don't have full power until 4th lol So far in mild weather the stock rad has held up okay. One other thing I'm considering is divorcing the aux rad for the transmission. So that rad only cools the trans and nothing else.

It should be fine. Mine has seen an extraordinary amount of track time, so I'm not really that surprised.

If you were running a stock oil pan is it possible you starved the engine of oil while on track? Heat usually kills engines so curious what caused this, unless it was something catastrophic like ring land failure?

Don’t think it was oil. Engine still hasn’t been torn down so we still don’t know.

When you say three of the straps had broke @ 2:30 are you referring to the spark plug electrodes?

You could also use TT LCA but Verkline gives you more adjustability

There are quite a few parts required. Note I’m yet to actually fit them so this is researched based. You need TT Uprights TT LCA TT outer tie rods TT Pinch bolt and nut (it’s larger) One thing I don’t know is how far out it will push the top of the tyre. So you may also need adjustable strut tops to pull it back in or wider guards.
