Haunting, eerie, sad, evoking the realization how quickly time passes. But so beautiful, thank you Edwyn.

What a nice piece; I had forgotten this. I remember the era when this theme was replaced by another on the CBS show. I had become engrossed with GL in the late 70s. I still remember when Diane Ballard was suddenly killed shortly after revealing all to Alan and putting him under her thumb. Then, in the 1980s the show would shift its focus to young characters (mostly, not completely). It never recaptured the quality that it had when I first got "involved". Mind you, I enjoyed some stuff--- the Annabelle/doll/Barbados adventure, and India trying to destroy Alex and Philip. :) In the 1980s I watched a few daytime serials (my teen and college days--- thank goodness for the VCR), and this tune here was the prettiest melody a show could have had. There is just something so lovely and tranquil here, that harp and those strings plus the flute. Wistful and warm. Everything else pales in comparison.

Thank you so much for doing this! I ran across the compilations of the Guiding Light themes on here and found this to be my favorite, reminding me of when I was a child watching with my mom. I am sentimental so it usually makes me tear up. Again, thank you!

This is the theme I loved when I would watch with my family. Just a great time period. The golden age of this classic series. Way before it became the Reva hillbilly show.

Interesting, the harp sounds more up front in this original version compared with the variation in use by 1980 (where it’s further back in the mix and blended with the vibraphone and synth).

From the bottom of my heart, I thank you for including a link for mp3. Unfortunately I’m not very tech savvy :( I was able to download this onto my phone by saving it into a file but does anyone know how I can get it onto my music so I can add to a playlist?

Don't get me wrong I like the extended version with forest background which is what I remember as a little child. However the sound quality is much better with this one.😁

Hey Edwyn, fantastic job....as always...Oh by the way, will you be doing any more of those newsbreaks from the S.A.U?...I'm starting to miss those, and here's another idea for you to consider doing...In the early days of television (before all local and network stations went to 24 hours), local stations did sign-offs to end their broadcast day, followed by the National Anthem, and I was thinking that you can do one those local station sign-offs from the S.A.U. I'm pretty sure that local TV stations in in the S.A.U had done these back in the day...you can find these local TV sign-offs on youtube for inspiration.
@EdwynNSanchez4 жыл бұрын
Yes indeed. Each of the S.A.U. stations in Halfurd that aired the US network’s programming had a sign-off identification. The HALB (Halfurdish Association of Local Broadcasting) also was a part owner of the three local stations, so the company was also mentioned in the sign offs.
