A plethora of information and fact. You revealed things I wasn't aware of especially the NYS&W's entry in the northern region of New York. Keep up the good reporting. I'm glad I transferred from ConRail (ConJob) to NJ Transit. When I was with the EL our checks were imprinted a DERECO Co.

Just a few corrections. The original strike never kicked off until a B&M conductor was killed by a runaway tank car he was told to stop by executives. That strike went out of control, with several runaways happening in that timeframe, including one which intentionally rammed into a parked freight train to stop it, after the crew got off to go to a donut store. As for the MBTA going on strike, when Guilford bought the B&M, the B&M had a contract to operate the MBTA commuter lines, which Guilford had to honor. During the time of the strike, MBTA was still under Guilford control hence the shut down.

Ironically, a documentary that is partially about my railroad, the D&H, includes my footage from Waterville Maine. Great job!

I remember back in the late 80s and early 90s seeing guilford gp 40s on the KCS, on there way to the shops in Heavner Ok.

The D&H was my home railroad. I ran the ATCS server and monitoring sites on the Colonie Sub and from MEC to SAR and MOH It is a great area for railfans Sadly, I could not find anyone to take over the monitoring sites and had to abandon the entire project when I moved 6 years ago I am still looking for someone to put equipment in their house and feed the data to my server

Love the GG1 locos...I was around 11 or 12 year old and remember them going through Philly...not long after they were gone.

Who were these people responsible for running Guilford? God Lord, one stupid move after another. I'm not sure they were qualified to run a used car lot much less a railroad. It was almost painful to listen to the story. A very good series of videos. Excellent job. I learned a lot. (I vaguely remembered all those labor disputes from those years after watching this. I can't remember if there was threats of and/or any violence but it wouldn't surprise me if there was).

Yes, I heard of bear traps being left along the right of way during the strike to harm anyone not honoring the strike/crossing pickets

Wow what was that Amtrak train at 20:22 minutes in with all those different passenger cars? Thats easily to coolest passenger train I've seen.

CP Rail has taken over the D&H lines NS is seen on the line as well as they run Intermodals PanAm runs through MEC to Schenectady and connects to CSX

I hope Norfolk Southern gets the Pan Am. Then Partners with G&W to rebuild the Lowell to West Concord Line to Framingham. Then the Mass Coastal runs from Framingham to Cape Cod. That would be awesome!!!!

Guilford, later Pan Am Railways hasn't seen any maintenance on rolling stock, or track in years. I hope with CSX taking over, Maine's, and New England's rail system will be repaired, and brought into the 21st Century, and not limp along like a rolling junkyard!

At almost exactly 14:00 into this otherwise high quality video, a Guilford train approaches, and it's video sound becomes very loud, and for a minute or so, almost completely drowns out the narration...just thought you'd like to know. Nice video!!

Once again, as a trucker,we pay more taxes,road,fuel truck and trailer Purchase etc ,so stop saying because a bunch of crap railroads didn't upgrade or get different traffic,freight and then go belly up,and us taxpayers bail them out which I still never gotten anything out of,just like gm,dodge going out of business and they where billionaire corporate company's crying we can't pay our bills bail us out, butt our c.e.o s need their checks just not our employees ,yellow roadway which has been bleeding out for years and got 700 billion,just when under ,so what am I saying,just go broke and deal with it,I care less
