They never made it mega huge because he didn't live long enough, but they gave rise to a style that inspired so many other musicians thereafter, just like what grunge did for modern rock; something so bright and hot that it burns out like a meteor in the atmosphere and then is sacrificed and eaten up by all its babies like those weird spiders.

The Gun Club are still so massively underrated compared to other bands which were around at that time e.g. Sonic Youth, Hüsker Dü, Jesus & Marychain, Bauhaus, Pixies, Sisters Of Mercy, PIL or whoever.

ForARide underrated the same as All of Gram Parsons work. Jerry Lee Pierce was just as innovating as parsons was in coming up with Country/Rock the same can be said about Jeffrey Lee Pierce and Country/Goth.

Fortunate enough to see the band live three times. The first time was the most amazing. It was a small club in Hoboken New Jersey (just outside of New York City) the place was packed 'seemingly' for the college band that opened for them. But when the band left the stage no one left? I guess they were there for the gun club? It just didn't seem like their crowd. there were a bunch of girls in the audience screaming jeffrey, jeffrey, jeffrey! It was very cult likei and they were very annoying. But when the band (gun club) came on and started to play 'those' songs I realized how much the band deserved that cult like behavior. Seems fitting..,

this sounds like more like the Cocteau Twins than a Cocteau Twins record, unsurprising given it was produced by the CT's guitarist.
@k.g.alatore3554 жыл бұрын
Jeffrey Lee Pierce loved the Twins and I'm pretty sure the attempt to sound similar by having Robin produce the record was deliberate. And I mean, hell, Jeffrey Lee's voice just hits in such a way that it works perfectly with Robin's production style circa 1987.
