I worked with a functional medical practitioner for 6 months to try to loose weight. I am metabolically healthy with no signs of inflammation as per my HbA1c, hsCRP, thryoid panel etc. but my biome test (Zoe) showed no Akkermansia or Lactobacillus. It also ranked my microbiome as very good and I had very high levels of butyrate. I did three months of the Pendulum brand Akkermansia probiotic (Expensive!) hoping it would decrease my appetite plus added in daily servings of nondairy cultured yogurt, kefir, kimchi, miso, sauerkraut. Sadly, nothing changed. My doctor wants me to do another microbiome test, but its too expensive. I am happy to keep on with the fermented foods, and continue my WFPB diet chock full or whole grains, beans, fruit and veg. Teh simple truth is nothing is a silver bullet, you gotta do the hard work of being in negative energy balance: as in you must eat fewer calories than you burn. Maybe if I was sicker (inflammed, constipated, etc) I would have noticed something. But as for wieght loss, nada.

@@CBL-if8jr I wore a CGM for one month and was in range 100% of the time (before The probiotic). Its normal to have mild elevation in glucose after you eat, if it returns to baseline in 90 minutes that is normal physiology. My problem is genetics,. and maybe a lifetime of endocrine disrupting chemicals from the environment.

What about oregano or/and peppermint extract to create healthy balanced Akkermansia.

Please where did you find this info? How much to take? How often? Thanks

Hello, thank you for your information. One thing that I’m stuck on is when you stated that the bacteria you’re speaking of release and produce anti-microbial peptides so it’s confusing that a bacteria releases stuff that inhibits the growth of bacteria. Can you explain that I’ve never heard of it before. Thank you.

The Akk bacteria doesn’t actually produce the AMPs, rather it activates the cells that do so and indirectly stimulates its production, especially by Paneth cells. It seems to be immune to AMPs as it lives in the outer mucous layer, which prevents contact. It also may have cell wall properties that are resistant to them. This is all being studied, you can check pub med and other microbiome studies currently published. It’s a nice helper pathogen with hefty beneficial factors.

Why does the description say how to diagnose and how to treat it? That makes it sound like it’s a bad thing
@agataweeks54694 ай бұрын
You have not talked about how important the Akkermansia presence is in immunotherapy, which is far more important than IBM studies! !! Also, you listed the foods that help to create Akkermasia growing environment but nothing about how much of these foods to eat, how often and how long to achieve the healthy levels of Akkermansia in the gut! Overall, not enough information and too confusing to draw the practical information from it.

So at 3. 40 we need more butter. After all its a good source of the butyrate

hmmmm so your caviate at the end contradicts the entire video. Too much of this stuff appears to do more damage than not having enough. Think Ill have to take my chances in not having enough,

When are they gonna give us our Propionbacterium Freudenreichii back??? How about our C. Difficile, and the ones needed to prevent it from being bad? WARNING on butyrate supplements - they raise the pH way too high (to 9) and they are hard on stomach (in the brand I bought - not sure which). I'm not sure if this is done at a policy level or a company level, but there's no need to raise it over 7. Everyone should get a $10 pH meter and test the pH of their supplements dissolved in water. Nobody should take calcium carbonate either IMO (for heartbearn) -just eat celery, cucumber, carrots, etc
