Generations of Gypsies have dedicated their lives to developing this unique horse type, and now horse lovers the world over are enthusiastic to participate.
Beautifully filmed in HD, this captivating Gypsy Vanner Horse documentary introduces a magical type of horse bred by a select group by Gypsies in the British Isles. A chance discovery during a business trip started ones mans obsession with introducing this horse to the U.S. and the world.
In the film, youll meet Gypsy historian, artisan, and folklorist Peter Ingram. Around his home campfire he charms us with tales of his life in a living wagon and the changing lifestyles of Travelers today. Further on we visit Gypsy campsites and a family driving their caravan of historic living wagons on an annual pilgrimage to the Appleby Horse Fair. Some travel weeks to reach this destination, using the same roads as speeding semis and autos. It can be an arduous journey and not one for the feint of heart.

I have a gorgeous Gypsy Vanner mare, 15.3 hands, and she's awesome. They're so beautiful and a wonderfully versatile horse with the sweetest disposition. I'm completely in love with these lovely horses. They can do almost anything from dressage to western pleasure. They are extremely agile for a draft horse; she can turn on a dime. When riding her, she gathers a crowd because she's so eye catching.

When I first saw this breed I said "one day I will have one"...the day came this last spring. I purchased a yearling B/W she is the most wonderful little spirit. I have 2 qtr horses also, and as I am riding off the mountain she sees us from way below and calls to us running back and forth. I drive up to the barn and she runs to the fence. She has a puppylike spirit. First season only a yearling and I decided to show her just so I could do something with her until she is old enough to ride - she won over a dozen first place in halter showmanship. I just love her, so easy, so sweet and playful!

A "hand" is 4 inches [traditionally the width of a man's hand across the palm],,,they used to measure from the ground to the highest part of the withers,with the hand held horizontally,palm towards the horse.So my suggestion would be around 14 hands as the sort of size would suit your needs:)
