Everyone is Native. Every person on earth is native to a place, even if they have moved to another land. If a Cree person moves to France, is that person no longer native? A person from China is native. A person from Spain is Native and yes...even a shockingly white person from Scotland is Native. To classify others or yourself as other than everyone else simply builds separation and offers the close-minded a chance to view others as less than themselves or even more than themselves.

Too many white people think about native Americans like this, that they are a beautiful people with a beautiful culture.. i totally understand you mean well, I do. But by calling them beautiful, great, anything, you’re treating them as lessers. One culture or race of people should Never talk about another like that, I know you aren’t trying to be racist, but their culture isn’t for you, or for you to look at and deem beautiful, it was a way of life not for show. I also hear white people saying “I knew a Native American man, he was a great man” .. another example of racism, even though you don’t think your being racist you are because he in all likelyhood isn’t a “great” man he’s just a regular dude just like you are. And if he tosses his can of coke in the recycling and your talking that as a sign that he’s in tune and respecting his Mother Earth than you are quite the simpleton. You might think my example is funny, but Really. Why are you saying he’s a great man?? I bet he literally was just a regular nice enough guy, and your taking that as something else, instead of just being normal and genuinely nice to him you’re unknowingly isolating him by treating everything he does as “Native”

Kind of reminded me when they finally pulled down the statue of Edward Cornwallis a couple years ago in Halifax, due to the fact that the made the "scalping proclamation" that put bounties on the heads of innocent First Nation people who were living on their land, and paid anyone who would return a scalp of said innocent people's heads - all just to get them off our lands, so they could build their settlement by either killing us, or driving us out of our home. It put a smile on my face to hear that statue get torn down. It may not serve justice for all the crimes the colonizers have done to our people for generations, but at least people will remember Edward Cornwallis as nothing but a monster.

Because Native music comes from our roots, mother earth. It calls to our subconscious, and touches something we miss. Something that our essence misses. It's also a reminder of the pain that my people endure. I started going to powwows a few years back and still cry and get covered in goosebumps whenever the drums start. I sometimes get that with some songs but to the same magnitude. There's some intense, primal, real with Native music. It's our ancestors reaching out to us. NATIVE PRIDE! ✊🏼✊🏾✊🏽

I didn't watch the movie, yet, but I recognized the song from the trailer of Killers of the Flower Moon and almost screamed with happiness. I hope the film used this deeply profound music embedded with history, culture, and art of real people's resistance, perseverance, and lives in the most suitable way.

Germanic , Norse , native American South , Central and North , Pacific Islanders , Japanese , Greek . A way of showing that many of the modern cultures alive today had their roots , beginnings in tribal culture!
