When we were planning our Vietnam itenerary, a boat cruise on Hạ Long Bay, in Quang Ninh province, Northeast Vietnam, known for its azure waters and thousands of towering limestone islands crested with rain forests came much recommended. Which is just what we did. A two hour drive out of Hanoi found us comfortably ensconced on a junk boat, the term referring to a class of shallow hulled vessels, perfectly suited for cruising the placid waters of this UNESCO world heritage site. There are many options for a Halong Bay Boat cruise. We travelled with Pandora Cruises, as booked by our agent, Asia Authentic Travel (www.asiaauthen... ) Prices are around USD 300 to 400 per couple for a one night stay including all meals in a luxury cruise. Lower priced options would be available as well, however do keep in mind that the amenities/ facilities you find on a cruise would vary depending on the price.
You will also find day cruise options, but to soak in the natural beauty of this world heritage site, we would recommend a night stay.
