"Not by that door... that door leads to hell". Moment of ice, Chesters always adds that silver thread of Theology which thrills in a different way to the murder and detection. Beautiful.

@BitesizedAudio2 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure they do read the comments. I sort of hope they don't, because if they do it presumably would indicate they just don't care what the listeners think. I do think it's a simple mistake where they just don't realise I'm producing all this myself and they think I've stolen it all from the BBC or someone, as it seems so many other channels do. I struggle to comprehend that they can possibly confuse what I do with somebody posting automated readings of Wikipedia articles or news items etc. Anyway, I'm still going through their official appeals process and will certainly post an update when I have news on that. I'm also investigating alternative platforms to move to in the event they force me to shut down. For the time being I'm uploading new content to Patreon and Buy Me a Coffee only, but also researching other options - I'll keep you updated. Thanks so much again for your support.

@@BitesizedAudio this is such a synchronicity because just now as you sent me a like for my reply, I have just settled down to listening to another one of your amazing stories! The fool would not suffer? The things people arrogantly held as truth back then... I always try to read stories within their context, but it still upsets me when I hear about the commonly held beliefs about the poor, women, the unsound of mind, the French, the Italians, the "savages" from the colonies etc.

My son is a blacksmith. I have studied smithing with him. He indeed has hammers which I cannot lift over my head. It is not given to us to decide whether or not “G-d” would want us to kill someone or not, but I cannot help thinking he should have dropped a piece of loose masonry instead of a hammer.

"Bad art is when we see the artist's intention and get put off." Tolstoy. Thus Tolstoy is an artist but Chesterton a mere propagandist-- as in these crude stories excellently read by Maitre Stanhope.

These stories would be more entertaining without the constant hammering about atheists and how mis-guided and silly Chesterton thought they were. He indulges far too much in stereotypes.

@BitesizedAudio4 жыл бұрын
Are you referring to the captions / subtitles? If so, then you may have switched on the "auto-generated" captions - I have no control over them and, yes, I agree they are always full of typos and lack any punctuation. For this reason I normally upload my own captions file with correct spelling for those who wish to read along. I've just checked and the captions on this story are all correct at this end. When you switch the captions on it should give you the choice between captions in English (the ones I've uploaded) and auto-generated... but exactly how it works may vary depending on your browser and/or device (tablet, phone, pc etc). I hope that helps.
