the individual components are less than 2 (usd) each for the motor, etc. and if you got a 3d printer already you can make it even cheaper since they're going for 30+ (usd) on major markets (the amount of work needed for that would be wild though)

Ppl ask me why I Love Tamiya and Japanese products in general so much and this is why, the unboxing experience is always second to none and they know their customers. I mean how many other model company's are going to send you a working Model Kit of the periphery that you bought, so you can customize as you want. 😙👌

The fact you have to assemble it is Amazing. I should get one just to support this great idea. I would have used a tiny bit of lithium grease on those gears though, wonder how much nicer it would sound.

TIP, keep the old tiny drill bits and actually use them as pins for models as they obviously fit in the holes perfectly. And with his often they break you should have endless supplies 😊
@ScruffyCrow5 ай бұрын
I use 1mm florist wire. I have found that drill bits are almost impossible to trim to size and are actually more likely to break (might just be the ones I use). Then they are almost impossible to dig back out the holes.

That seemed like a common theme for the little USB drills. This goes relatively slow but more than enough torque for any model I've needed it for.
@jonathanlevine46615 ай бұрын
Its the torque you need and like you said in your video the dremel is too fast . I thought about using my knock off dremel but it is too heavy and fast it didn't come with any drill bit collars anyway. I could just see myself putting my hole in the wrong spot or through my hand with it. This drill looks light and because you put it together yourself, you kinda know how to fix it @@ScruffyCrow

Some solder or at least dielectric grease on those motor terminals would be good. It's easy to lose power to dirt or corrosion there.
@pashmaster5 ай бұрын
Would a small amount of grease on the plastic gears increase the lifespan and reduce noise even further!?
@ScruffyCrow5 ай бұрын
There is some on the gears, the noise is almost entirely coming from the little motor. Life expectancy wise, I just looked it up, I bought the last on in 2016 and the only reason I'm not still using it is I managed to lose it. And I use it a lot.
