I love how they made June rise above it all. I think this stays true to June's character and her want and need to help, even Serena. Because at the end of the day, as grey as it may be, Serena too ended up being a victim of Gilead, she was just too delusional to realise it. This episode is one of my favourites by far.

I adore these two together. Whenever I see June and Serena working together I'm happy. They're my main reason to watch the series!! Two wonderful actresses and such rich and complex relationship the one they have. But the most interesting one for me! ❤️❤️❤️

Any woman, on any side of birth, felt this in their soul. I’m not a Serena fan. At all. But women be women and birthing babies is legit. Every eff word, every emotion, all of it. Yes. I felt it in my soul.

Episode 7 is the talk of the town. These two ladies didn't even have to say a word their facial expressions and especially their eyes told it all. Magnificent acting/directing/producing/story line. Loved it. In all the series I've watched in 2022 this episode ranks #1 in my mind.

We needed this twist, because Serena will most likely be integral to the dismantling of Gilead in the coming/last season. And with aunt Lydia also on the path to understanding the wrongs of their beliefs, I think we have a rocking season in store with some truly bad ass women bringing down the patriarchy.

Unfortunately they won’t be dismantling Gilead. That will be up to their children when Hulu adapts The Testaments, in which we will most definitely be getting more Aunt Lydia. But I do hope that June and Serena are able to at least stand tall in the end and make some sort of lasting impact. I’m excited to see where this last season, and the sequel series go.

I’m so glad that they kept June human! This is my favorite episode of her. I was starting to hate her more and more but this episode redeemed her. She showed more love and grace than anyone has ever showed her. This was complete redemption for Handmaid’s tale. June isn’t far gone. June still has humanity in her

I think people have judged June way to hard in some of her decisions. Nobody knows how they would process the abuse she has endured. People in abuse situations either become stronger or weaker because of it. Its June will to survive and not become what Gilead tried to make her into.

@@lisamartin3734 agreed.. I’ve always seen her acts as the effects of trauma endured. But they have made her character very unbearable to watch. Last season was horrible and i almost didn’t watch this one but I felt I was too invested not to 😂🤷🏻‍♀️. I am so glad I kept watching bc this was the best episode of all. I bet she does everything in her power to help Serena. And not that Serena deserves any of her grace of mercy but it would be a wonderful testament of who June really is.

I can’t imagine hating a character who is so clearly mentally ill and has been through hell and back…and who allowed herself to be tortured rather than give up the location of her fellow handmaid’s until they threatened her child. I never understood the June hate. The situation she was in could have made her into a monster…but like Rita said, Gilead brought out the best in June in so many ways. She risked her life to do the right thing so many times but god forbid she…processes her complex PTSD in a way that makes the viewer uncomfortable? People always want a “perfect victim” when in reality: they do not exist. I’m also glad she didn’t help Serena any further than showing her that she’s more than a vessel and helping to keep her child alive.

@@fibonaccisequins4637 clearly all the haters have never been through that type of abuse, and will never truly understand. I just turned 39 last week, and I have had PTSD and mental issues my entire life due to almost 17 years of severe childhood abuse. The best we can do is deal with everything the best that we can. I am a hell of a lot better than I used to be, but it does take time… Lots of time to heal. And how I let a lot my anger and problems go, was due to learning to forgive for myself to be able to truly live. We never forget, but we can forgive…not for them, but for ourselves.

I swear I thought June was going to leave her there. But I knew she wouldn’t. That is who June IS! I loved how she looks Serena in the eye, as a mutual understanding, “this is how we ALL FEEL ABOUT OUR babies”. It’s like an understood, You want your baby, I want MINE, BOTH OF THEM!

Serena knew June would get her through this. These actresses are awesome and this episode was by far the most emotional one for me. I really want to believe Serena is going to choose the right path and not repeat the past. I hear there will be a season 6 so I am positive they are going to leave us hanging at the ending of season 5. Thats the whole point of HMT.

This episode was heart wrenching, jae dropping, the most tear jerking episode of this season! 😢😢😢😢 I was soooooo moved. Couldn’t have anticipated what was to come. I was thinking any moment June would kill Serena or kidnap the baby but the REAL way things panned out was so much more. Plus this may not have been challenging to shoot (for Moss or Serena) but for the audience this turn of events that happen when a villain turns good and realises the hurt they caused… this was done such exquisitely ❤❤❤❤ Most writers make it do childish and forced that it doesn’t hit your heart. But the writers of the show did such a tremendous job doing it, I would be showing Emmys on this cast and crew. Salutes.

If you are a mother yourself and you see somebody who you don’t like completely depending on you. She is going to die with her baby in an awful way, if you are human you are going to help. June is back to being human. She had to become a monster at times to survive now she is back.

I think they’re going to destroy Gilead with the help of aunt Lydia, whom we just saw has some power (even if the commander told her not to talk out of place, she still managed to have the rapist killed)

@@chris368 Well Lawrence can’t let Aunt Lydia know that he’s essentially working with the resistance…so he had to check her. It’s good that she gave him that info but he and Nick would’ve found a way to dispose of Warren one way or another.

I felt like in this episode June was really starting to heal from all the trauma of Gillead and Serena. She was more calm after that scène. Not angry anymore. She is abiously not there yet but this was a beginning too heal. I really hope Serena will turn around for good. But you never know With Serena.

Screw Mr and Mrs Wheeler idc. I know everyone hates Serena and I get it but that doesn’t mean she deserves what she put june through. I needed the scene where june helped her and showed compassion. Because Serena is a prisoner too. With more privileges and definitely needs a taste of her medicine but NO woman deserves that period

I do not believe the message was "violence is not the answer." Fred was a monster and June had to speak to him in the language that he understood. That she feels guilty about it shows she is not the same as him and that absolves her of her "crime." Sometimes violence is the only answer to advance the greater good. And I also believe June didn't want to kill Serena because, despite Serena's behavior, she knows she is a victim of Gilead too.
