What I love about this movie is that they are not afraid to show, that in every revolution, there are dead people, a lot of them, and here we see people not afraid of death, their friends who accept their deaths because they know it's for something bigger than all of them, they are not doing this for themselves they're doing it for the generations to come, they stop thinking of themselves as helpless little breakable things and turn into really dangerous weapons, partly because there is no fear of death in what they do !

Yes, "The Hanging Tree" from The Hunger Games peaked at number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2014, making it a successful song outside of the movie. It achieved double platinum status in the US and platinum status in Canada and Germany. Jennifer Lawrence sang the song, which was written by Suzanne Collins and the Lumineers, in the 2014 movie The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part I. In the movie The song, as performed by Katniss Everdeen in the film, ends up becoming a rebellion anthem for the districts. The rebel in the song is pleading with his neighbors to accompany him in his quest for independence.

This song makes me cry...Mostly because It reminds me that someday the war can turn into a reality and I might be here to see it...Plus the scene that goes with it...It kills me

@@dorianforces116 Yes we have been here for years. Some people want us to be as reliant as possible. They don’t want us to be able to get our own food. This is the U.S. It only gets harder to just get by. Poverty is rising and eventually people will realize it.

About a week ago (yes), my friend asked me if I wanted to see the film with him on the last day of school on his birthday, I had never seen The Hunger Games, i presumed it was overhyped and I didn't want to read it nor see it. So on this Tuesday i went into this film with a tiny bit of knowledge and came out with a lot more. The Dam scene and the forest scene really showed a brilliant air of comradery (pretty sure i just butchered that spelling haha) and with this song it was phenominal, I don't speak about things like this, it was probably level to the emotional rollercoaster as The Laat of Us (epic game if ypu haven't played). This film also portrayed the horrible gap between class and money status in society, and showed the brutality of those on top (in general). For maybe the first time ever, i'd rate a film 10/10, and it goes to this. So bravo. See you all at Part 2 :)

This could refer the Lightning tree in the Quell arena. Beetee was wrapped in the wire, the wire was wrapped around the tree, and the arena crumbles, which is strange, also Katniss being rescued, strange. Katniss calls for Peeta. Calling for her love to flee. Beetee was intending to kill at least three. He was hung around the tree, slowly dying. Even if Beetee did not kill three in the Quell he mirdered six previously as a victor.

But the song is about people being executed? Why would it refer to that?
@tianafitzpatrick917410 жыл бұрын
The book talks about some of the deeper meaning of the song. It had to do with the original uprising and was forbidden to sing. That is part of the reason why it became an anthem for the new rebellion.
@brennanjw0410 жыл бұрын
The games are about people being executed in penance for the uprising right? Beetee was hung around the tree dying, right? And I know, I've read the books. The deeper meaning like Katniss said is "unnerving". Katniss' mother banned it because Prim started to make necklace ropes.

Are you, are you Coming to the tree? They strung up a man They say who murdered three Strange things did happen here, no stranger would it be If we met at midnight in the hanging tree Are you, are you Coming to the tree? Where dead man called out For his love to flee Strange things did happen here, no stranger would it be If we met at midnight in the hanging tree Are you, are you Coming to the tree? Where I told you to run So we'd both be free Strange things did happen here, no stranger would it be If we met at midnight in the hanging tree Are you, are you Coming to the tree? Wear a necklace of hope Side by side with me Strange things did happen here, no stranger would it be If we met at midnight in the hanging tree Are you, are you Coming to the tree? The Hunger Games is probably one of the most important works of literature out there. It perefctly represents who those in control really are, no matter what country you live in, but most people fails to see this. Those who fail to see this are the ones thinking that governments are working for our benefit, but they are deceived. In the movies the government uses the arena as their playground, but here, in the real world, the world is the elites, the governments, arena. We have to fight to survive, if you ave no money, if you can't give them your money that you work for, they come after you, your family, take everything you own until you are left out on the streets. It is like Katniss says in mockingjay, if you think for one second that the capitol cares about us, you are wrong. Everything they do (politicans, governments etc) is only for their own benefit. If they really did care, they would have ended all poverty instead of spending their dirty money on war, reality shows, etc, but still we put our faith in our governments in thinking that they will solve our problems. We must wake up, be the collective mockingjay and show them that we won't be sheeple, to these hungry, greedy, pigs no more. And one crucial thing that Haymitch says, "remember who the real enemy is.", something that Katniss consistently reminds herself of, but something that we seem to forget. Of course, he refers to the capitol, and if we look at this in our world, we turn against each other, instead of looking at what is really causing all this division amongst us, those in control, "the capitol". We see so many times in literature how people, authors, try to convey this message to us like George Orwell in 1984, but we are so blind to see that this goes for the entire world, the west, the east. All governments have the same, secret , but really not so secret, agenda, and that is to spread fear, have control over all of us, and for all to benefit only them and the rich. They don't really care about us. Suzanne Collins understood this so well.

This ballad itself becomes a way for us to remember what we could be, who we could turn into. When I first watched the hunger games, it was a movie that made me feel powerful. But now I realize that this song, its words, can relate to the world today. We could be just like them, yet something holds us together, though we all fight and cry. However, our mockingjay, whatever it may be, is slowly fading, as we distance ourselves from what others fought for, and bring ourselves into the selfishness of the capital.
