The Arena looks like it’s for the 25th Hunger Games: open sky, massive empty space larger than a football field, no cornocopia, a massive empty stadium ringed with a forest worth of trees. Then you have someone looking like a combination of Lucy Gray and Katniss Everdeen in the forefront.

While Lucy and Snow were two faces of the same coin, while both were manipulated by Dr, Gaul, Snow and Lucy both had the selfish evil within them the only difference being circumstances (Snow was Rich, Lucy was not) Lucy manipulated Snow to win her own freedom and survival, Snow loved Lucy to an unhealthy sociopathic decree when they both clashed Lucy left the snake behind as a warning to Snow that she didn't need him anymore and couldn't killed him right then and there a sign she had won had the Snake she had chosen been poisonous, Lucy either died by a loose shot or survived while Snow changed forever for the worse "It is those we love the most that destroy us." Katniss though was a true hero who fought for the freedom of everyone, selfless and willing to risk her life to end a major dictatorship.

I totally agree with all of this except the part where Snow was rich, as his family had lost all of their fortune after the bombing of District 13. Despite living in the Capitol, he was still poorer than many in the districts (depending on the district of course). His whole motivation for gaining power and control is to survive, for the security of his future (and as he sees it the security of Panem too). Great insight!!

He still had his rich reputation is what I meant, he carried himself and was able to continuously masquerade his wealth despite his family now being dirt-poor, he had status and enrichment in his image whereas Lucy didn't.@@Khatul246

I dont really agree. Lucy for sure had more good in her, but she did know how to play the game to stay alive. Also Katniss is not a true hero. She did everything for Prim at first, then for Peeta. She never chose to go to war, she never chose to rebel. If Snow had left her and her fam alone after the 74th hunger games she would have been content moving on as long as her fam was safe. I'm not saying she is not a good person. She is. She shows a lot of compassion to people. But she was not somebody who felt strongly about overtrhowing the capital or taking down evil regimes. She was literaly forced in that position. She did embrace it in the end, but without that push she would have let stuff go on as they had for years. She was not willing to risk her life to end a dictatorship. She was willing to risk her life to protect Prim and later Peeta. People glorify Katniss. Which is funny because thats what happend in the books as well, much to her own chagrin.

The Issue is, Lucy was ruthless in her freedom and trying to survive, she's selfish in her escape to survive, Katniss differs because yes her motivation was his sister but she then willingly chose to aid the Rebellion and become its face, if she didn't she wouldn't and would live a normal life, it's the fact she choose to, saying if she wasn't picked for the Hunger Games doesn't attribute to her character, if Superheroes for example didn't get their powers would they still help masses of people probably not but it's the fact that they choose to do so, same thing for Katniss.@@amberanime

My theory is, Lucy gray is Katniss grandmother. While a lot of people I seen said it wasn't, look at there appearance. Almost the same image. And lucy age could match up. I done math and IF miss Everden was Lucy gray daughter. Lucy gray songs where wiped out but someone had to remember it. I'm thinking off screen, her mother teached her the song(hanging tree) I also seen mister Everden was Lucy gray son, doesn't add up bc he died when Katniss was young(11, but i cound that as young, I doubt he is Lucy gray son) therefore, she couldn't Remember it. ( sorry in typed a lot, and this is MY theory, I'm not saying facts or Have TO accept it, if you don't like it, ignore it)

I don't get why people say Lucy was like Snow, she was always in danger, Snow didn't love her, he only wanted to possess her, he was looking for her with a charged gun even before he knew she had left him, he was ready to hurt her. Lucy only did the necessary to keep him away when she realized he was going to hurt or even kill her. She even picked a snake without fangs so her intentions were never to kill him. Thanks to Lucy the rebellion finally sparked with Katniss years later. We love you Lucy and Katniss .lll.

She was like Snow, that was the whole parallel in the book, Lucy wasn't a victim of Snows she was cunning and more manipulative so much so that she managed to manipulate Snow's obsession for her in order to win the hunger games, and we see this cunning, ruthless manipulation even in the games, when she forced a teen who had a heart condition to chase her and not stop thus causing him to have a heart attack or when she poisoned everyone's water supply with the venom to cause them all to die painfully, she made a show spectacle out of it purposefully because she was a performer and she only fought for one thing...herself...she didn't care about a rebellion or morally right reasons she just wanted to survive, Snow's sociopathic obsession allowed her to prey on it to give her an unfair advantage which she used ruthlessly to put on 'shows' of how she kills others in ruthless spectacles in order to further her image as a performer. The Snake she left Snow wasn't poisonous because it was a warning, a warning to Snow that she didn't need him anymore and could've killed him right there and then, they were both as bad as each other, utterly selfish and remorseless...hell Lucy didn't even care she was the cause of a child to be hanged and killed. Both Lucy and Snow were manipulated by Dr. Ghul but as for Snow and Lucy they were two sides of the same coin in the ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. Katniss was the true hero who fought for everyone's Freedom, Lucy left no impact on the Rebellion since she was all about herself.
