You joined the party fast! Thanks for playing the demo! I would like to clarify that the killer you're playing as is in fact the original killer, not the copycat. Good to know I have to point that out a bit clearer. The third playable character is the revengeful father of one of the main victims in the first game. I will also clarify that a bit better. You got it right, Hotline Miami was actually a huge inspiration for that chapter and also one of my favourite indie games. This is why we have playtesters like yourself. :)

To be fair, I picked up it was the original killer because of the top of his burnt face he showed before he put on his mask. I remember in the original that John got burnt to death (but somehow survived), so I picked it up, but then again, that’s just me. I’ve don’t represent the entire player base 🤷‍♂️

Can we just appreciate that second victims choices for a second. A game is made about a serial killer whose victims you all knew at one time comes out. Without any remorse, you buy a cabinet of it for your arcade. A man dressed as said serial killer comes in while your alone in the middle of the night, after a copycat killer is announced. Finally you complement said killer's costume.

Its 1989 in this game cuz the last game is confirmed to be set in 1983 (Not Said in the game but Detective Pawlaski said “The School Burned down 1 Year Ago” on June 30th 1982, meaning its 1983 in the 1st one and its 1989 now, so you’re probably right

Oho, interesting. We have the third protagonist who is a vengeful vigilante. But I think we won't be seeing much horror theme in his section if he has that 'ammo' gimmick and stuff. Probably about scouring town to settle the score while getting clues from some thugs.
