You said you weren't going to be one sided?! But you've made it perfectly clear which side you favor. I own both kinds and your video is spot on as far as 6s freestyle goes there's no comparison you can change rates on dji and put the Akkon prop adaptors it will make a difference but at the end of the day the dji fpv for me is utilized very differently. When I want cinematic freestyle that I can "depend" on long range over water behind mountains with a long flight time I reach for the dji fpv...if I'm rippin a bando or something in close proximity for freestyle I reach for me evoque or ft5 it has its purpose in our hobby but comparing it just on freestyle there's a clear winner

Hello . If u want to go digital buying a used DJI FPV wit the goggles is a good choice. U can try it and if it suits you can keep it if not I sell the quad and keep the goggles! Starting digital is not cheap with a 5inch and is not beginner friendly. The best is to combine a whoop with the DJI FPV . I have the DJI FPV it is excellent long range FPV drone and I will pair or with a 5inch freestyle or a cinelog35 this is a perfect combo for me!

GPS positioning on its own is not that accurate and most fpv drones dont even have a compass. DJI has a lot more in their drones to allow the rock steady positioning they have, e.g. cameras at the bottom, sonar sensors, magnetometers, barometers and so on

I think a lot of people misunderstand the usefulness of the DJI FPV. My boss bought one for me to learn on and use for commercial video shoots. We need something that can be used to smoothly track an 18 wheeler on a closed down highway. I've come from just flying standard DJI drones in that same application but now we need a little more speed and maybe some maneuverability. Personally, I can definitely see myself buying the drone you talked about in this video for fun and acro. The FPV opened up the door for me to learn about a passion I didn't know I had. Clients have seen normal freestyle acro drones in action and none of them like them. The footage captured on them usually isn't viable for any type of commercial or corporate setting. I think both have their strengths and weaknesses as they are intended for different purposes and perhaps even different audiences. Great breakdown though of the differences. Very helpful.

I owned the DJI FPV for a couple months when it came out. The DJI FPV is a like a Big Sedan, has tons of tech, kinda idiot proof, easy to get going, but it's not a racer, like driving a Tesla instead of a Modified Drift car. it goes fast in a nice straight line, so it can cover some real ground, it just sucks at climbing, pulling up from dives, changes in direction and it will break on contact. My landings on my custom FPV quads would break the DJI FPV. (suggest using the autoland on the DJI FPV or the pause and grab) I could see someone who liked GPS drones, but wanted a little more zoom. no interest in proximity flying (which is the best part of FPV...) You could buy one 6 batteries and be a happy camper. (2nd one for when the first is sent in for repairs) but there is sooo much more available.

For your mountain cruising the dji fpv is the best you can get. Its got the best GPS, video image, signal and range. For freestyle I dont recommend this. It can freestyle, but Justin is right about the power to weight and repairs. For cruising you cant beat the dji fpv, as long as you dont crash. As a beginner you have so much dji assistance, youre not gonna crash this compared to a BNF.

Left out something about DJI. Anyone have a DJI spark that still works like it did for several years? It was a great camera drone, mine flew just about perfect, like a loyal pet, it did what I asked it to do.... Then... Mini was released, Sparks started dropping out the sky, all over the place they flew away, or fell. Were they deliberately broken by DJI with updates to sell minis? DJI had lost a lawsuit and the Spark(and phantom) could no longer be sold in the USA. I feel they were broken intentionally by DJI. And a company willing to do that isn't one getting my money. That's the only reason I have not got the DJI digital vision system. They seem willing to break their own products without a care of their customers. They lost this customer when they killed my Spark. I had bought a mini already, and it wasn't near as good as the spark. My mini is gutted and sitting on the floor and I have no desire to fix or replace it. I fly hobby grade fpv, and wish I had my spark to put in the air and film my fpv outings from a diffrent perspective.

Personally I'll never fly mine in full manual mode i bought it for getting a little more high speed shots and keeping up with fast moving vehicles which it does extremely well. All in all it's got it's place in the FPV drone world of course this is only my opinion.

Dji fpv is terrible for acro because it is too heavy. You can't aim for small openings and you cant do fast direction changes as the inertia is too much.
