I loved my wearable, I used the Elvie as my primary pump. I didn’t experience aversions to breastfeeding but I struggled with pumping, being stuck to an outlet was tough for me too. I was able to pump and multitask which helped me to deal with the aversion part.

Started my EP journey with Spectra at home and Elvie at work. After a few weeks realized I got identical output with both! So decided to stick to my Elvie for ease of use and been going strong now for almost 4 months. I’m six months postpartum and a just enougher. I started using it after my milk supply was established though.

Boy. Back in the day as a L&D nurse I only used one of those hand held rubber bulb pumps. If and when I got a break I did what I could. Even hand expression. It was hard to “let down” at the one semi public offices available, surrounded by my co workers and I did make a bit of a mess on occasion as the squirt sometimes missed the receptacle but it was a bit amusing esp that it was the bosses desk. Of course I did clean up after. I managed to breast/bottle feed breast milk for a year foe each of my 3 kids but it wasn’t easy. This was back in the 80’s. Wish I could do it again and try out these new things. Hang in there moms. You can do it !!! 🥰🥰🥰

I live in a small city where the only breastfeeding company sold is Medela. I have used the traditional Medela electric breast pump with my last two babies born within the last 5 years. Now I am pregnant again and looked at the breast pump equipment at the store and was surprised to see the traditional pump was not there but the wearable one was, which I had never seen before. I will not be working and really have no need to use the wearable version. I guess I will have to buy online since only the wearable one is available locally.

My rule of thumb was if I can sit by myself in an enclosed room I’ll wear my flange full size pump, if not I’ll use wearables. I noticed the difference in efficiency and output

Do you have any videos for stay at home moms who have 2 kids 6 & 4 and a newborn where the 6 year old is homeschooled. I used the blue spectra exclusively previously because I keep having challenges with babies who have lip and tongue ties. I have my kids starting in a co op once a week and I am realizing that with the demands getting crazy that exclusively pumping with a blue spectra and flanges just isnt going to work long term this time. Things are getting too busy around the house for me to work it out. I get done dealing with one kid only to find the baby crying and someone needs help on the potty and doing it all on little sleep since the baby feeds at night still and the pump schedule just sort of is around that. Baby is 9 weeks old but sometimes I sleep through my alarm I am so burned out and tired. I know I cannot miss pump sessions as an exclusive pumper but I am exhausted. I have to do something about the spectra situation during the day so I can homeschool my oldest, handle the baby, and my four year old and still meet demands for meals and feed myself on top of that and sneak in a shower.

I don’t know why, but I have a spectra and cheap wearable pump from Amazon, and my wearable pump empties me soooo much better and has increased my supply. I can’t even use my spectra anymore because I get clogs if I use it too much. The flange sizing is correct for both and I’ve tried different settings. I guess it’s convenient for me 🤷🏼‍♀️

This is my experience as well. For my 2nd, the Spectra nor medela never gave me a good output. I would pump 5 or 6oz in a 9 hours shift. My stash saved the day 😢 Now with my 3rd baby, I got the Paruu P10 just to try it out!! I get 12-14 oz EVERY DAY.

I was very intimidated by wearables, so I did not try one until I was about 7-8 months along with baby 2. It’s been good, and it’s been helpful to pump in the car or at home doing dishes, to sneak in extra pumps when I experienced an unexpected dip in supply. I like that it’s so easy to pump with 1 wearable one sided, then switch to the other side, to reduce cleaning parts, and I make sure if kiddo wakes up early from a nap I’m not “out” (i know one is never out but it can be frustrating if baby wakes up early and hungry and you just finishes a double sided pump session). Ive use the Mommed S21 and it’s been good for me. Other pumps I had success with are the Spectra S2, Unimom opéra, and Elvie stride, and PGA. I like that the Mommed has faster cycle speeds than the PGA.

I have an EZBREZ and have only seriously pumped with it twice but leaks out from between my breast and the silicone that coats the flange to the bottom and hardly into the cup. When I went to remove the pump, it just leaked out and I lost that precious effort. I'm wondering if the bra isn't creating enough compression or if my breasts are too soft

Thanks for this video! This has been a question I’ve had for a while. Exclusive pumper here with 3 pumps and I own an Elvie, but I stopped using it because I just wasn’t getting results (I’d much rather use my portable spectra and also Elvie parts are much harder to find)

For folks who use an elvie or a spectra at work (and nurse at home), how do you split that? I'm thinking 2 pumps with an elvie and one with a spectra when I catch a break for 8 hours away from the baby?

alison! you are so helpful and spot on with these videos. i had a willow go but disliked it due to the finicky nature of it. i needed something that i could slap on and go. i bought a portable pumpables pump, and i use cups with that. it works fine when i'm in a pinch, but overall, I'd rather sit and use my spectra s2. thanks for the video today! 😊

I'm 4 months PP, doing combo feeding and trying to have a stash. I have a Zomee and started using it right away. I struggled with being tethered to the pump, with flange sizes, and with less output. 2 months PP I bought a Momcozy wearable for about $120 and I've had a much better experience. I can wear them while I do other things, I now know my flange size, and my output went from 1oz to 2oz per 20 min session, with at least 2 hours in between sessions. I have a small stash, about a weeks worth. And now I've decided to only pump when I need to and I will work on my stash a few weeks before going back to work. I like that I have both pumps but the Zomee is in the box and will remain there unless it's an emergency.

@15:00 "do they sell a lot of other things besides pumps" I had to laugh, I have a couple of pairs of Vevor ("Tough tools half price") pumps. I actually like them pretty well, a bit bulky but I like some of the suction patterns. They came with a spare set of duckbills but no other parts are available. But they cost less than $20 a PAIR! , obviously at that price they are discontinued and that is a clearance price. But by buying two pairs I have spares of ALL the parts (including motors) and two complete sets of the washable parts so I can clean in batches. Also a lot of companies sell pumps that look virtually identical but at vastly different prices, the expensive ones _might_ have better parts inside, but I have some "S10 pro" wearable pumps I got for about $20 each (on sale) that work fine. At that low of price even if they are not as durable one can have replacement sets. The "S10 pro" cups can also be used with a cap for a tube rather than the cup mounted motor to use with other pump motors. The cups that came with my Ardo Alyssa seem identical (though buying them from Ardo is much more expensive)

I used a Spectra to exclusively pump until my son was 9mo-ish. As soon as he became mobile it was SO HARD to stick to a pump schedule at home. As well as just the discomfort of pumping at work with the Spectra. I tried the Momcozy s9 and switched to exclusively pumping with that wearable pump. It has been over 3 mo and I am now weaning with it. Saved my pumping journey being able to figure out a wearable pump! Warning: My body decided it preferred the wearable pump and all of a sudden my Spectra was no longer being efficient. My guess is suction difference? I did have to go back to pumping every 2 Hrs while at work in order to keep up supply. So I was kinda forced in to exclusively using my wearable because I didnt have good pump support around me. oops! I really appreciate the wisdom this channel has to offer

I really wish you more explicitely spoke to what you mean by wearable pump. For new to pumping moms, it's hard to understand what "wearable" means. Are we talking the type of cup shape (but may still be plugged into a wall), or type of cup shape and the energy source (battery or plugged in), or the type that is battery (not plugged into the wall) and therefore entirely wearable... it's just not clear. It seems like you are just referring to the insert cup shape but you do refer to settings and walking around. Disappointed it wasn't more clear...

Thanks for the feedback! A wearable pump is typically one that has a cup style flange and a motor on each breast. Cup style flanges with tubing to connect to a separate motor also have many of the same characteristics, so it’s fine to carry over many of the same pros, cons, and strategies.

You can cup feed even the smallest of babies, or syringe feed for babies that refuse bottles. I had 2 that absolutely refused to take bottles, 1 of them started taking a bottle around 8-9 months, but would only take a lansinoh mama bottles.

It's by the grace of the most high I still have milk in these boobies. Im from the caribbean so no pump insurance. Anyway as a new mom on a budget. My first was the bella baby portable...i then got the bella baby hands free then the paruu p10 then finally the baby Buddha. I have elastic nipples and size 16 mm and use the 15 17 21 24 and19 mm flange which works. All the pumps I got off eBay where I had a pretty bad experience with a p10 and had to return it. If I could purchase the right way I would but the sacrifice is too great. I love the 19mm inserts as it helps with proper alignment. The baby b portable has been my favourite i can use all levels without pain but I like the bella baby for it's varied modes as I work well with that. As a first time mom my only LC is KZbin i exclusively pump 1 2 Or 3 times daily s only jsome times i missed a day . With all that said I make 4 0z to 10 ounces daily rare 16 oz ( that's in the first 3 months PP)
