The battles of 1914 and 1918 are byfar the most interesting to me. Somehow the 15 to 17 years were just a slog. I know a necessary slog but the whole deal was nearly lost and then resoundingly won in that final year. Excellent presentation

Prime Minister David Lloyd George referred to the Canadian Expeditionary Force (CEF) as "the shock troops of the Empire." Kudos to the Canadians for punching above their weight.

If you get the chance, check out Shane B Schreiber’s “Shock Army of the British Army.” Fantastic book on the CEF.

My grandfather was in the 38th Battalion in the Canadian 4th division, 12th brigade, who advanced on the DQ line on Sept. 2nd. A video was made of his battle: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qH_Mm3eblqhsfbs
