To be fair, SMM 1 already allows people to hide a bunch of bs red coins or keys around the level which no one will ever be able to find, so this won't really be that different, except that you can boo levels like that

I agree with Kevin here, it is something we already deal with just the same. That hidden key in that hidden box needed to get to the hidden mushroom to get the hidden fire flower to get the hidden flying power up to get the hidden red coins to get the hidden locked door that can only be gotten by flying into a hidden path you normally wouldn't and if you fail key death. Arguably it is better because the game tells you before hand so you at least have an idea of what to do, as opposed to the above.

That behind the scenes trick is so cool! It looks like the pow is kept on a background layer while it is being spawned so it looks like it's in the pipe, and then tonguing it keeps it in that background layer, so when you spit it it stays behind the blocks.

@Behind the scene, my theory as a developer: The POW starts in the background layer, so it is visibly *behind* the pipe. After the come-out-of-pipe animation has finished, an event would trigger which puts it in the foreground. But if you catch it before then, the layer change event never fires and the POW stays on the background layer

I’m leaving MM2 to the pros, and will live vicariously through players like you. I haven’t played MM1 in YEARS but I watch guys like you and Ryu religiously. My enjoyment from the game stems from watching people do things I never could, and you guys are all amazing, and also incredibly enjoyable to watch and interact with! I realized that I don’t really need to play MM2 as I’m mediocre at best at everything from playing to level design lolol. I have a weird feeling that 2 is going to be a million times more hot moisty garbage than the first (imagine an entire lvl of alternating beat blocks, for the whole. damn. thing.) and will wind up being less enjoyable than MM1, so I’m leaving it all to the pros. I have a theory for the behind the scenes level: the pow is behind the pipe when it comes out, so when you tounge it, or is still technically "behind the pipe" and the pipe is at the same later as other blocks but the pow is in a different layer behind everything

The "CP2 is CP1" troll is so very obvious to me. Unless there was an overlaid door in the goal area, which not many people actually use, there was no way to bring a power-up into said goal area so the goal had to give you some sort of power-up to not die to the saws. I was thinking a star but jumping mushrooms work. What did you think the mushroom was going to do for you? The Thwomp very clearly needed to die. That was an anti-soft lock, with the mushroom and star pipes. Easy once you figure it out but not just something you can stand in to die. the pranina plant is actually on X = 10. How do you see where deaths happened? Great hint. Didn't see that coming. And that's always the best time for a Rickroll. Thanks for the video Carl.
