I really appreciate that you asked Tim about his relationship to the concept of obedience in regard to his parenting. Thank goodness he quickly made the connection that physical coercion and assault are unacceptable. I have a firm aversion to the notion of demanding obedience from children. Tim is an exceptional person, and this obedience thing remains a sticking point for me. I would like to engage him further in this question. I do not demand obedience from my son. I want my son to feel a strong sense of personal autonomy and self protection. Yes, it is not easy and foolproof to inspire kids to brush their teeth and be punctual without demanding obedience. It's reassuring that you ladies understand my discomfort with this super highly charged word.

OMG thank you! This is so validating - I tend to think the issue here was more that Tim and I have different definitions and feelings in our body around the word obedience from each of our past experiences. Because when he got down to explanations, I felt more reassurance that we would find common ground if we really needed to pick it apart. But yeah, I think I did it and felt a lot more like how you describe. Ultimately what is going to matter is that we grant that all important autonomy in any parenting we do. I know it can change the world 💙🫂 Thanks for listening and checking in about this. Damn, it's a big deal 💙

Most definitely! We did this week's podcast release a bit early as a premiere tonight, and the chat got pretty vulnerable and caring...I mean, dang! That's gonna be the goal whenever possible - feel free to come hang out for a premiere or a live sometime!

11:00 About Trump - at this point - the country has been in this horrible chaos for 10 years now or more. This has been more than enough time to have learned all that one needs to know about the absolute disqualification of Trump and JD Vance for these globally important positions. People's lives are actually in danger. Actual Not Sees are involved. While I do agree with the points about not judging others and accepting different viewpoints, I have to draw the line at violent behavior. Voting for Trump, at this point in time, shows either woeful irresponsibility or is an actual violent choice. When the person one is disagreeing with is set on hurting others and is not going to respond to reason, we can not just accept and excuse this. As the sign in the back ground says, Black Lives Matter. Many people's lives are about to be horribly effected. Many people's lives have already been even lost because of this wreckless and hate filled ideology. I do think all of the people here actually do already know this at heart but we have to get into alignment fast about this issue in particular.

Thank you for this thoughtful comment. At the heart of that part of our conversation was the recognition that we can't expect all atheists to think the same way about anything other than the existence of a god. But to your point...I'm hopeful that all the buzz I am hearing around 'community' will take hold...because if we lift from the bottom, I believe we are harder to stop

@@ApostateSisters Thank you so much for your response. I am also hopeful yet we have all been socialized through the alienation inherent in advanced capitalism to function only as individuals that I am worried. Perhaps this is more pronounced for me as I am in a deep red location. I do enjoy your podcast and your personalities so much. Keep up the great work my fellow sisters.
